Game Thread: Lady Vols v NC State, Away, Wed., 4PM, ESPN2, Tues Nov 4th

I said before the season that all this schedule will do is make it possible for a good team to have worse record than they should, get a bad seed in the tournament because of it, and then get bounced early because of the bad seed.

This was a terrible thing to do to a team full of new players and freshmen. It is not setting them up for success at all.
yeah whoever made our schedule needs to find a new job. they did not set up our team any room for growth in the beginning of the season. threw us directly to the wolves.

We scheduled hard so we have to play better. Still have to go to UCLA and Stanford. Louisville on a neutral court. Have to go to UConn. Have to go to SC, LSU, Oklahoma, and we do have Texas at home. If ever there was an uneven schedule against ranked teams we have it.
Learn and get all the new blood ready for the tourney, record be damned. Film from this one will help a lot. Too many overplays and not enough stopping the ball can be corrected.

it wasn't defense or team stats that killed us, it was player personnel and missed bunnies.
look at the evenness of the numbers on the right...
the other t hing that sticks out is,,,we are a fstbrk team and they doubled our fbstbrk pts
The player with the most minutes had amongst the least production

More Civil, Barker and Latham.

I was right about the fouls making a difference. Shucks.

A difference between playing game 1 vs. playing this same team in December is that you don't know quite so well who your ballers are -- Prawl playing 22 minutes, Spearman playing 30? (not even a good night for either), and I don't think Mya would only play merely 2 minutes, Civil merely 13 if this matchup happens later. Civil still hasn't missed a 3 in a game, btw.

Deniya needs to cut out these foot-on-the-line 2s. Already has done that twice. That extra point woud've been nice to hav in that endgame sequence.

Wolfenbarger will hav better games than this.

Cooper had the best offensive rating and the best defensive rating. She really struggled in offensiv rating last year due to high turnover rate, low PPP and low PPSA. If she can maintain a high offensiv rating while keeping her already fantastic defensiv rating solid, she's first team All-America this year and a fantastic leader of the LV's 5 anytime she's out there.

LVs were +8 in Alyssa's 16 minutes, team top. (+0.5/min is highest next to Cooper's +0.22/min)

I'm guessing Kim wanted a highly experienced player there, but dang ... yeah, I would like to have seen a post inbounding that ball.

I think they might have been looking to get it to coop or Mia and then right back to Robertson for the shot. But didn’t work out that way.
Yeah that last play was very disappointing, had Kelly Harper written all over it. I wouldn’t have wanted Robinson inbounding or taking the shot. This wasn’t CKCs best game. I would have loved to see Barker get that shot.
9-33 (27.3) 3-pt is not good enough in this offense and will get you beat. Saw this last year when LVs struggled from deep.

Need to develop some shooters in a hurry. Playing a bunch of FR with a couple of vet transfers in their first real contest together so lots of room for improvement. Saw many positives on both sides of the ball. Just hope the FR don't hit the proverbial wall before tournament time.
I don’t think you ‘develop’ 3 pt shooters at this level and this pt in their careers. They can improve some but almost never become consistent, which is what we so badly lack. Not nailing a 3 pt shooter in the portal was the only recruiting shortcoming.

This was basically a road game as 80 percent or more of the crowd was NC St. We lost the game when the Refs went crazy before the half calling a technical and several suspect fouls to get them back from ten down. We can play a lot better than we played in this game. Doubt NC St will ever play another game where they got this type of advantage on the calls.
That stuff doesn't' matter.. We di not play a very clean game in any department. Our defense was porous, our shooting was not good, we did not rebound well on either end of the course and I saw a lot of players with turnove3rs. Just a sloppy game all-around. I thought we had three players whom played well enough to win and th e loss of a starter was probably the difference in the game. I expect we will play mush beat in our net game and see great improvement in all areas of the game. We should not drop very far in the rankings and should be very tough to beat come the Thanksgiving Holiday tournaments.

I lol reading that one poster GLV say we are about the same in talent level as last year lol… last year’s team would’ve loss this road game in addition to bogus officiating to a Top 10 about the same as that Kentucky game on the road.
The stuff that poster DP spews in these threads is legit the worse trolling in history. At this point just stop faking as a fan to say following a Top 10 team losing to another Top 10 team in their home state by 3 points means they should drop out the rankings.
Like I said it was confirmed today, this LVs team is absolutely loaded with talent.
This is the best freshmen class in the NIL era and it’s not even close!
I don’t think the chemistry is there right now. With the players. Or the coaches. The chemistry is off right now. That can be fixed.
No point in posting on the forum at this point with the ridiculous dialogue. In the 4th when the LVs took the 72-69 lead that was suppose to be seal it and everyone has to be held accountable for what happened after starting with the game management and following possession.
But again, I feel great after watching this and won’t waste time in these threads much. Twitter either. People have loss their da** minds. I’m officially on a hiatus.

Here is the box score she has to play Latham and Civil more minutes. They were excellent today, but were only in there 29 minutes together.

I will say that subbing pattern is going to become a glaring issue at the end of tight games. I know Kim likes to think her method is tried and true but sometimes you have to ride with your best 5 in the 4th.

Don’t think the freshman wall will be as big an issue. Most of this crew were playing tournaments well into the summer while in HS.

27.3 (which probably includes the halftime heave) is well close enough to our target percent that the offensiv rebound rate (which was 32%) being low actually being the bigger factor in our scoring.

Spearman only 3 oRBs in 30 minutes of play. Wolfenbarger with none, Alyssa with only 1. Whatever 3s we take, they need to be taken in a position where our girls can get the board. Any 3 taken in an spot with a low chance of an oRB is a bad 3 to take.

I didn’t understand Civil playing so little at all. Not going to say any names, but both her and Latham produced more in a lot less time than some others who got quite a bit of minutes.

Yeah learned touch fouls called on only one team can make a difference.

That foul on Zee was worse, it was criminal. Hands straight up in her own cylinder. Had to be bias.

Wes works the officials better than anyone. Second only to Kim Mulkey. Just know you’re gonna get hosed when you play against him.
