I know that there is a lot of disappointment in the outcome of last night's game. As a Sooner fan first, I really didn't think that we would come out with the victory. While I am glad we did, I hate that the Vols had to lose. My Sooners have been on the sad end of it too many times lately.

Watching the game on TV, it looked like the atmosphere was awesome. I would love to have been able to be there. Game day in Knoxville is on my list. Friends that were there really enjoyed it and said that the Vol fans were great to them. I am glad that there still classy fans left in the game of CFB. Too much money and too many a$$hole fans ruin it quite often anymore. But not at UT.

More than 30 years ago, I visited the UT campus for a convention. I was awed with the beauty of it and the great people there. A few years later, I had an opportunity to interview for a job in Knoxville. It didn't work out, but that was the only city I ever considered moving to outside of my home. I became a Vol observer then, but I became a true fan when Josh Heupel was hired.

It stinks to lose, especially when you have such high hopes and expectations for your team. Again, too often I have been there. But keep the expectations high. Eventually it will pay off. I think JH will be the guy who gets it done. And he will do it the right way with awesome fans right along with it.

While I get the sentiment and understand how all of you may feel......worried that you found your Mark Richt, Heupel doesn't deserve to be compared to any of those bums
That's an interesting comparison to Heupel, Mark Rickt. I can understand why many people feel like that. But I saw an article online that was comparing Coach Josh Heupel to, of all people, James Franklin. The writer feels like that Heupel has become our version of Franklin.

This is something I just thought of. Josh Heupel, to me, is like the hot girlfriend we finally landed after having to settle for average to below average girlfriends for years. And now, because our hot girlfriend doesn't seem as hot as some of the hot girlfriends of programs out there or we have a disagreement with the hottie we have, with so many others dumping their "ladies" (Now can include Auburn), if we dumped Heupel, and with so many other programs looking for a "hot girlfriend", does anybody think we can find a gal that is hotter that what we have? I am not so sure. Let's just say that I am willing to stay in the relationship we have with Heupel, but damn it, we need to make some changes in the relationship. With that, of course, I mean we better bring in better players through recruitment and the transfer portal and he better make some changes within his staff.

For all, the major of end of year records were between 8-4 and 10-2. Guess what.
People are pissed because our ceiling this year is 9-0. Bad coaching and bad execution have us 6-3. We are not running on all cylinders. The prognosis was based on what our ceiling appeared to be. The David Sanders injury was a major set back. He would be farther along. The two starting cornerbacks being out killed us too. And we still could have won all our games. If we just won our home games we're a 1 loss top 5 team. This is all our own fault.

I’m not ready to dump our head coach.
Disappointed in our season..?? Oh hell yes, but not ready to go back into the wasteland of “ starting over…AGAIN”.
Frankly, IMHO, college football has become so utterly F-d up that its impossible to build a system of young players with potential into top tier athletes that allows coaches to create and sustain a top quality program season after season. Those days are gone. A lot of angst expressed here is folks ( like myself) who simply wish it wasn’t so. 🙁

Take any teams top 2 cornerbacks away for the entire season, that team's defensive unit will suffer, which in turn will affect that teams won/lost record...It's almost a mathematical certainty...It is the excellent play of the Jimmy's and Joe's that win the games..

In any event, what will be, will be.

Give him a 9/10. He is the future here. Make no mistake about it. He took a team coming off a CFP and lost the starting qb because he is a man of principles. He was a few plays from doing this back to back. He also had key injuries. We may only win one more game, but as for me, I have seen a lot of UT coaches come and go, a lot of loyal players come and go, and I stand with Coach 100%. If you don’t believe in him go pull for Vandy.

NFL teams sure struggle defensively when they lose key starters from their defenses. Look at the Lions last year. Look at the Ravens this year. With the NIL and easy portal, quality depth becomes a luxury

Well issue I have is Heupel has not been active in fortifying roster in transfer portal. When you aren’t aggressive in using it, injuries will stick out more Hopefully he learns his lesson this year and they already have a plan this next cycle. We were dead last in number of transfers we took in SEC. That is not acceptable. That is what Clemson does and look where they are.

You hit the nail on the head. I’m not sure if I should be encouraged by or mad about the fact that we still could have won all of our games despite everything you listed above. Despite all of the sloppy penalties, some questionable play calls, bad clock management, dropped passes, missed field goals, bad calls by officials, bad defensive play, we had opportunities to win all of the games we played so far. Of course, you could argue the other side of that and say we could have easily lost the Mississippi State and Arkansas games, too.

Sad to see so many fans feel this way. 8-4 or maybe even 7-5 being acceptable is embarrassing

Yet another loss that CJH has to eat himself. I cannot blame that first turnover on him. That was 100% on Joey. He has to hand that off when you see that the end is crashing. While yes Sanders is a 5* he is going to block to his assignment. You could tell it was an inside run and he was looking to go inside. Who would have ever guessed that Kitz couldn't manage to bring a guy down that he was literally draped on.

This to me was on the worst coaching jobs that CJH has done since at UT. It was apparent from the start of the game that OU was not letting the deep ball beat them with what appears to almost be a deep cover 3 or 4 all game long. Maybe I need to see actual game film on this. Although it looked to me like the OU was leaving the middle of the field open for slants and seams with the LB's attacking the flats and then running deep safetys over the top. A lot has been said of the lack of time in the pocket with the constant pressure. I would hate to see a screen pass or a shovel pass eat that alive with the middle of the field open.

Then you add in the lack of what seems to be football knowledge at times. I get the defense has been bad all year. Although not accepting that holding call and backing them up 10 was crazy. Multiple times this year we have had poor clock management. Actually I feel like even in this game we had some just bad clock and game management. Your defense makes a stand and gets a turnover and your offense (one of the best in the nation) cannot find any momentum to move the ball at all?

I am by no means on the fire CJH train. Although he has to do some serious staffing evaluations. Sorry but Banks and Martinez would be gone immediately. Your offense cannot have the feeling that the defense cannot make a stop and you have to score every possession.

Anyway going to be an interesting finish to this 2025 season. I hope like hell they find a way to put both UF and Vandy away. Really need those wins to build toward 2026.

Loss didn’t phase this big dude! Committed to Vols yesterday.
The 6-foot-7, 320-pound prospect is an in-state commitment from Siegel High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 11 offensive tackle in the class and No. 6 player in Tennessee.
