I applaud Coach Heupel !

How’s that happen? A 20 yard run by an unathletic white kid from his own end zone. And we’ll see it two or three more times before the season ends
That kid is extremely athletic.

Just so/so passing, but ran hard and, used his blocking well, very nimble. Hendon Hooker 2.0

Agree, we’re in that middle ground of better off than we were for a long time but not where we think we should be (based on fanbase, facilities, significance of the program to the state). “Good enough” is my new term for the Heupel era.
Yeah good enough doesn't last forever. The grace period is about over. Fan apathy is the next step if you're not careful with good enough.. If Heupel wants to stay long term he better do some soul searching and fix some things in the off-season.

I’d love to agree. But watching us run the ball up the gut for a 2 yd loss-while under 11 mins and down by two scores really makes one pump the brakes.
Exactly! And throwing on 4th and 1 to a true freshman TE. I don't understand why we struggle so bad in short yardage situations. We even struggle try to run in the redzone. JA has been forced many times to throw inside the 10 because we can't run it that close to end zone. Not sure if it's play calling, run blocking or not having a physical RB for those situations.

We struggle because they stop doing things that got us there. Not sure why they want to reinvent the wheel with Mickey Mouse formations.

Yes. Bama lost under Saban due to undisciplined play with stupid penalties and self-inflicted errors.
And when it happened, Saban handled it.

Trying to draw a comparison between Heupel and Saban team discipline is a losing proposition.

I’m a fan of Josh but he needs to get serious about team discipline and personnel management.

I like the current staff - cover the phases of the enterprise well. It sucks that you win the battles, but lose the war. They did enough to keep close, then adjusted to force us out of the game plan - no run game, sit on passing routes, double coverage, 4 and 1.

For all, the major of end of year records were between 8-4 and 10-2. Guess what.

CJH is somewhat at a crossroads - it's wait and see what he does. I was encouraged by his willingness to revamp the offense, and to a large degree, it's been successful. And he finally got a credible OL to go with it....vs being a position group with the most questions.

But he's now got to address the defensive side of the ball. Outside of times last year, they still can't get off the field on 3rd downs, tackle worth a damn, or play a competitive zone. Obviously he's just been shown again why you don't win without playing good defense - so I'm interested to see what he does. Doing nothing is NOT an option.

Fair. They completely blew that Texas game though. They’re not a bad team. Typical middle of the pack SEC team that can beat and lose to about any other SEC team. Like us.
Agree don't you think that we are as well. Looking forward it is going to be a tight race on a 9 game SEC schedule. Something has got to give.
I hate to say it but a CFP playoff appearance may resemble what happen in last year. Although the defense was not good the offense had its spots as well. In the long run we are not CFP competitive at the moment. I got the feeling unless we get above average on both sides of the ball we are not going to be completive.

Well said !! It’s took this long to recover from firing Fulmer !!
Well I guess I pull for vandy then! (NOT)! Look everyone is entitled to their opinions and you know what they say about opinions don’t you? But telling long time vol fans like myself to pull for another team because we see that heupel just doesn’t have it. Is like someone that mever served a day in uniform telling me that because I don’t support a certain political agenda that i don’t love my country! Give me a damn break!!!!’

Give him a 9/10. He is the future here. Make no mistake about it. He took a team coming off a CFP and lost the starting qb because he is a man of principles. He was a few plays from doing this back to back. He also had key injuries. We may only win one more game, but as for me, I have seen a lot of UT coaches come and go, a lot of loyal players come and go, and I stand with Coach 100%. If you don’t believe in him go pull for Vandy.
People like you are why we will never see Tennessee win anything of significance again.

And where was the spy on Mateer? Once again absent. Have no idea why Banks can’t figure this out on 3rd and longs. If you’re playing a QB that has wheels, those are the downs and distance you really need a spy.

We said, Oklahoma is only effective on one running play - the QB run. We made no adjustments until into the 4th quarter. Where were the LBs or spy?

While I get the sentiment and understand how all of you may feel......worried that you found your Mark Richt, Heupel doesn't deserve to be compared to any of those bums
Richt would have probably had around 8 teams that would have made the current 12 team playoff during his tenure. I would be beyond ecstatic if Heupel does that at UT.

I want Hype here, but I do not understand at all some of his decisions in game time. especially at the end of the first half, and at the end of the game. Clock management is terrible

Don't forget kicking. Gilbert is hurting us too. Some of these kicks are consequential. As others were saying around us in the crowd. He has one job.
And he seems to miss from the right hash mark. So if thats the case and you know you are going to try fg. Center the ball for him to kick.

I like him, he’s fine. He’s good. However, a 9 out of 10? That’s a reach. He’s not great, and Im not sure how anyone could argue that he is.
