Again, we didn’t play a top 20 ranked team until January last season and tonight played a natl title contender with a new squad. A Duke team who player their lottery pick the entire game.

Boswell is like Freddie Dillione, half step slower than everybody else on the floor, Duke moved the ball from one side of the floor to the other without dribbling on many occasions, another 7 minute scoring drought took Tennessee out of the game, Boozer (and his twin brother) is why Ament is at Tennessee, Ament will be fine, pressing in front of 39 NBA scouts, needs to let the game come to him rather than try to be the game, Gillespie and Ament were a combined 10 of 40, bad shooting night, need points in the paint and eventually in transition, but Duke doesn't turn it over very often

Classic overreactions to a ****ing EXHIBITION game, lol. Oh, not to mention, an exhibition game against the best program in college basketball. Tennessee is going to be really good, but it’s gonna take longer than the last couple TN teams to put it all together & play consistently because of the roster flip.
By early February or so, this will be a top 10 team that no one will want to play.

Main point was we haven’t played a team like Duke this early. We have basically all new guys werent McDs AA’s, so I didn’t expect to look overly sharp and expected breakdowns on defense, but we hung fine against a Duke team who played their #1 pick the whole exhibition.

Okpara is still perfect from 3…. The sample size is growing 😁

If Ament would have made three or four of those misses, then we would have won and he would have gotten all the talk. He forced it way too much along with Gillespie. NBA scouts in that number made them all want to look like a million bucks. Barnes has plenty of ammo and film to ride their butts hard and coach them up. I think Burg is going to be able to contribute enormously in SEC play. He needs time to mesh. They all need that time together.

This team could easily give us heart attacks all season then freaking steam roll opponents come tournament time. We will have some bad losses until a third and fourth offensive weapon emerges. I think they just keep improving and make another E8 or FF. Ugly early on and stretch wins in February and March.
