Overall I really liked what I saw tonight. There's a lot to work with there with this group.

From top to bottom this may be the most athletic team Barnes has had. Think we'll be able to dominate a lot of teams down low this season.

Ament and Gillespie will be fine. I can see Ament leaving at the free throw line once he starts attacking the basket more.

Brown had a solid last 10 min of 1st half and barely played the 2nd half. Estrella only played 8 min. And Boswell got 24 minutes. Just weird with Brown dominating for a bit there and then not playing much after. Boozer also played 39 minutes and Duke was 20 of 20 from the FT line in the 2nd half. And UT was still right there. Brown, Okpara, Estrella, Phillips, and Carey is about as good as it gets down low. With Ament and Gillepsie this team just needs another guard to step up. Having said all that it's just an exhibition game.

Barnes has his work cut out for him. Team
Chemistry isn’t what we are used to. Team defense was really poor. Nobody could really get to their spots. Good news- we were still in the game and it’s preseason.

Yea, ament just look like he was forcing things more than anything. Once he settles in he’s going to be tough to guard

Think that’s a big part of missing zz and that core group of guards. Feel like we should continue to get stronger as the season goes on

Well, it was fun to watch. Given it is an exhibition, I'm sure we will develop more of an identity once the season starts. Defensively we got lost on pick/roll often. Need more than 2 scoring options. Cade in particular didn't look to score. Our size should allow us to attack the paint much more often than we did tonight. Very few post touches which given our size doesn't make much sense. Duke was awarded for being aggressive and attacking the rim, got fouled and made a ton of FTs. We should play the same way. Our shot selection in the half court was not good especially from Ament and we got bogged down often. Played better with tempo and bigs ran the court. Burg I think was a calming influence when he played. Perimeter shooting may be inconsistent with this group. Minutes for Carey, Estrella, and Abram in particular was odd and much lower than expected. I liked what we saw from Brown. Wish we got to see Henderson, Evans and Massamba. Boswell can't possibly get that much run when the games count, can he?

Burg and Abram can both shoot it well (3-4 combined from 3). But they’ll have to earn time at the SG spot. We had Boswell taking their minutes tonight, but that won’t be the case by conference play. Barnes also limited Estrella’s time tonight.

Between Gillespie, Burg, Ament, Abram, and even Estrella, we’ve got some guys who can knock it down from 3.
