I agree, I told some friends and my wife before I walked out of the room, either take the FG or try to run it in but not up the middle.I was afraid of an Int but I did not think it would be a pick 6. All I heard coming out of the room was wth was that call and as I was walking back in all I seen was the Bama player crossing the goal line. I knew then we were in trouble.so many things wrong with the play call. No spreading the defense. Even that play call to the other side of the field would have left more wiggle room around a potential error. Short side of field, soft pass, inside. Heck with the situational football fake pass handoff would have been at least unexpected. Just simply too basic of thought process there, so much so that everyone knew what has happening, and not a high success rate play. All around bad as could be.
We know the truth but everyone gets upset when it’s discussed. The scouts are right. Our players are system players. The system makes qbs, receivers, rbs, TEs and OL better than they actually are. It is a great college system but we need someone to succeed in the NFL.It blows my mind how absolutely zero Heupel skill players have done anything in the league.
Sampson averages like 2 yards per carry. Tillman had a respectable year as a third receiver but can't stay healthy. Hyatt looks horrible as a pro. Thornton can't get any receptions. Jaylen Wright can't get on the field. Hendon was lost in Detroit and is on a practice squad for a bad carolina team. Milton is a back up. Who am I missing?
I barely care about the NFL but I want to see our Vols do well in teh league. No one does. The negative recruiting has to be deafening.
We’ve done a pretty good job of exposing our weaknesses over the last three games. And we have yet to prove ourselves against a quality opponent. So I’m not too shocked. In fact, I’m more shocked they didn’t drop us to 20-25. I’m content with 17th.how do you fall six places, in poll? it was bama, at their place.
I asked him if he wanted to, and he said he didn’t have time either. Have at it, if you want to do it.@Glitch are you preparing the Kentucky Game thread?
I would rather not... Maybe @Adam Sandler can handle it....I asked him if he wanted to, and he said he didn’t have time either. Have at it, if you want to do it.
He declined. I tagged @ChattaTNVol to see if he wanted to do it, but no response. I don’t have time to do it anymore, not so much this year, but I’m starting my own practice next year and definitely won’t have time. Need to go ahead and get someone else to do it and change our mojo for this year.I would rather not... Maybe @Adam Sandler can handle it....
I’m happy to start a very short one to get it started and everyone else can just put their keys to victory in a post with a prediction.I would rather not... Maybe @Adam Sandler can handle it....
You cant stop tempo, that’s when our offense is at its best-when we are going warp speed. Last year I think our offense wasnt as good because we didnt run the tempo, and on Saturday we didnt run tempo as much which is part of the reason why our offense struggledYou’re right but Gimmicky isn’t the right word. Gimmicks don’t have lasting value and it’s more of a trick. There’s nothing tricky bout heupels offense. It’s genuinely so basic but incredibly affective
We tried the few times we could on Sat. Really truly I do not believe in conspiratorial nonsense, The amount of Refs inserting themselves, and standing over the ball at opportune times is absolutely eye opening. You cant stop tempo, that’s when our offense is at its best-when we are going warp speed. Had we run it and gotten stuffed, people would be saying it was an idiotic play call.that play call that resulted in the pick six still blows my mind at how idiotic it was. 9 seconds, no timeouts, absolutely no shot we’re running it and we comeout in jumbo package, with no wr’s. It was equally a bad throw as it was a call too
We try to go warp speed after a big chunk play and it almost always inevitably bites us. We run that stupid zone play and either get a false start on the OL or the RB gets a TFL. Hardly ever positive yardage. Tempo doesn’t always go in our favor. You cant stop tempo, that’s when our offense is at its best-when we are going warp speed. how many times has it worked? We try to go warp speed after a big chunk play and it almost always inevitably bites us. We run that stupid zone play and either get a false start on the OL or the RB gets a TFL. Hardly ever positive yardage. Tempo doesn’t always go in our favor.
I believe playcalling and clock management are one in the same. I know he's a good play caller so I guess he's just not good with the clock. That can be fixed with hiring someone that is knee deep in analytics.Yea I don't know if his lack of confidence in the DC is the reason or not. I think he just sucks in clock management. We had the same clock issues against Arkansas last year with an elite defense.
If I had to give an excuse I would assume since he is so involved in the playcalling aspect of those 2 minute offensive possessions, he is having a difficult time of multitasking his HC responsibilities of managing the clock.
When you're on the road, in that part of the stadium (absolute loudest), with a QB who's never played there. Yes, take points.Take the FG and live to fight in 2nd half.. I will die on this hill....
