Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I think fans have an overly simplified view of coaching. Smart enough to know that certain metrics are good and others are bad, but not involved closely enough to understand that they are creating a strategy around certain tradeoffs. From our point of view, it may just be luck that we had statistically better defenses when our offense wasn't as good, but I bet there is far more to that than luck. I seriously doubt Banks is calling defense in a vacuum...Heupel is no doubt involved...and the year-to-year difference is about them choosing priorities as much as it relates to changing personnel strengths.
I can always tell who played football and who played Madden.

There are a lot of players to choose from, but I’ll be damned if the Vols don’t have the best of the lot.
And for the folks who aren’t in the league, I’m 5-1 with the second most points scored on the season, so the plan’s working so far.

Soccer and F1 have been selling uniform ads forever, they seem to be doing just fine in popularity.
Pro teams and college teams are not supposed to be the same. That's what makes college football better than NFL football. It's getting to where I can't tell the difference because of "free agency" and riding NIL deals. We're heading towards a semi pro league, where the top high school players don't go to college.

Soccer and F1? 🤣

Can you name the Knoxville soccer team without google? And how many F1 drivers can you name?

Anyone know of any condos or small cabins for rent around PigeonForge area this weekend. My schedule just became open but I am having trouble finding lodging in that area.

I said they're doing just fine, not that I follow either. I couldn't name an F1 driver, but that doesn't mean I'm unaware of how popular it is.

My point is, reaching for money doesn't inherently ruin a sport. College football isn't better than NFL because of how greedy or not greedy either is.

College football will not survive in its current state and the more fingers in the pie, the worse it'll get. These sponsors are going to want something. *like changing TBA to the Food City Center.

The current state of college football/basketball..... the conferences make no sense, officiating is terrible/corrupt, and lifelong fans are getting priced out of their seats. And prices are still going up. Some jerk will say "but there's a waiting list for seats". There is here but what about these other schools across the country that are struggling to keep their sports teams. It sucks and you know it

GREED IS KILLING COLLEGE FOOTBALL (and basketball.... to a lesser extent)

Elite kicker? Just an average to good one would have sufficed. We didn't need an elite kicker for a 43yd FG.
Gilbert is a good kicker. He’s 80% on FGs this year. He was 20-26 last year. Those are the numbers of a very good kicker.

The thing that separates a good kicker from an elite kicker is hitting the clutch ones.

We had a good kicker attempting that kick. We needed an elite one.
