I see that as the plan too with only 2M people with coverage. Up over $21 in pre-market. Companies in medical/pharma/insurance/hospitals in expanding where they can get a value buy or product for their portfolio.Bill Gunderson trumpeted OSCR on his Wednesday podcast.
Thiel and the Kushners being in the shadows and the venture and hedge fund type of financial backing doesn’t give me good feels about them long term, but short term and middle term I can see it running for a while. I don’t like how they bail out of certain markets, but being small relative to the big insurance players they have that advantage.
I think that they’ve also exposed themselves to a lot of Medicare Advantage. I think that that is a mistake. Medicare Supplemental is by far a better option for most clients that can afford it. But the government might want to steer Medicare users to Advantage and there are a lot of gullible seniors that don’t understand Advantage plans and get sucked in by the heavy promotions. And it isn’t easy to switch from Advantage to Supplemental. If Medicare isn’t reimagined I think that Plans G and N will far outpace Plan C (Advantage).
I bet that OSCR HAS an exit strategy of eventually selling out to one of the major health insurance companies. They’re focused on the New York market and they (NYC) have the highest rates for Plan C (and Supplemental plans) coverage.
I like OSCR as a pretty good stock for the next few years unless Congress blows up healthcare in some way.
