Plus, he built this UT program as we currently know it. This is his baby. He's not going to leave unless the support dries up....or his heart leads him back to his alma mater. I have a hard time seeing an AD commit career suicide by not giving Vitello what he needs to run at the top of the sport.

Duke basketball has been the best program of my lifetime. They play in a small arena…but it’s a great environment. That’s how I look at LNS.

Returning to his Alma mater would be career suicide. Missouri is a baseball wasteland. That’s the worst job in the SEC and it isn’t close.

This is exactly what Carla Williams did at UVA with O’Connor. She’s lost 2 national championship coaches in the last year. Granted, Tony Bennett had enough with NIL, but O’Connor with no more scholarships or NIL and not being able to travel midweek, she blew it. Miss State is giving him everything.

I just think Tony is a very loyal guy and loyal to people who helped him get to where he is. Don’t think he wants to leave or anything like that. Heck, he’s even said he doesn’t think Arkansas fans like him very much.

From a coaches perspective (I’ve been at 3 different schools, albeit not Tony’s level), you miss people you’ve worked with and develop friendships with a lot. You spend a lot of time with your team and coaches, so you develop a tight bond with them.

One of the cool thing about CTV, he doesn’t really use “coach speak” and speaks from the heart. I don’t think he’s all that comfortable talking about himself and always talks about other people that have helped him get to where he is, it’s just magnified because Ark wants to make it more than it is
