The Official Arkansas @ Tennessee Fayetteville Super Regional Game 2 (Sun. June 8th 3PM EDT) (ESPN)

I talked a little earlier today with a friend who is a HUGE Arkansas baseball fan. His exact words to me were that when DVH retires Matt Hobbs will be the next head coach of the Hogs. Just take it for what it’s worth I guess
Considering I wanted Tony to hire Hobbs as pitching coach whenever Frank retires, this kinda bums me out as well (but not nearly as much as Tony V leaving would 😂 )

Two things-

First, Find and listen to Vitello any time he has talked about UT giving him his shot. That matters a lot to him. A LOT.

Second, get the vibes back in LNS and keep the admin out of his way. That will keep things on track.
That's the key. The upgrades to the facilities were great and long overdue, but they need to get the juice back or face the devastating prospect of losing Vitello.

I go back to Wyatt and I don't think I can name a better and more impactful coach walking this campus than Tony Vitello. They cannot....CANNOT afford to lose him. Did I use the descriptor "devastating" earlier. Poor choice of words on my part....apocalyptic is more accurate. White needs to get the dollar signs out of his mind and fix the atmosphere. Bet Vitello has several thoughts on what needs to be done.

I think the only place he would go would be in the SEC and it would be a large amount of money and a chance to win the first national championship would be more incentive He is happy at Tennessee and I think something would have to happen for him to leave. He has definitely earned the right to run the program the way he wants and I think if that was ever questioned that could be the determining factor. It worries me that he has questioned the fan base support several times throughout this year and that’s why I continually bring it up whether that is on social media, in person, or on here. I know people will say he needs tough skin but it gets tiring to hear people question you when you are the best there has ever been.
The armchair fans should never question the man that led this University to a National Championship. Doesn't matter what fans think CTV should do, just watch and enjoy. If CTV makes a mistake he isn't ignorant, he doesn't need to here from the lunatic fans on message boards, Social media or at the ballpark.

I agree 100% . Shut the hell up and let the man do his job. Tony pours his heart into this program. A lot of the morons on here and other platforms need to realize you are not going to play for or win a Natty every year or even every two years. Baseball is a cruel mistress. It’s a fail sport with lots of ups and downs. So take a chill pill and set back and enjoy the ride every year. I can promise you that no one gives more or cares more about winning than Tony and our coaches and players.

This is the same fanbase who pressured the AD into firing a Hall of Fame football coach who had won them a National Championship (granted, he was a couple of years past his prime, but the way it went down was unsavory)

Co-sign every word.

Get TV and his staff in a room a couple times a year. See what they need. Work to get them that then get out and stay out of the damn way. They've proven they can be trusted to do it right.

All I'm saying is that armchair fans had questions about Fulmer. They don't care about anything, if the coach doesn't meet their expectations. They will question any coach based on that. We've seen so-called fans in this forum question CTV the season after he led us to the national championship. It's just crazy how they think IMHO.

This doesn’t matter at all for what tony does imo. Every fanbase has those people, especially in this conference. He couldn’t run away anywhere and escape it unless he went to a G5 or D2 school.

I mean, our resident LSU Tiger fan wanted to fire Jay Johnson last week if they didn't beat Little Rock in a regional, and now they're going back to Omaha!

SEC fans are gonna SEC fan, unless you're at Vandy 😂

It would arguably be worse in other places like Texas or LSU
Absolutely. I also think there’s two sides of it. It’s fair to discuss the game critically in a forum designed for discussion on the games.

I don’t think anyone’s approval rating for the staff or team is below 100% even if they’re unsatisfied with this season or any games within it.

At LSU, it’s always Omaha or bust. I’m surprised Mainieri made it as long as he did without keeping that standard.

I’ll add this. I’ve said this several times before, but there should not be ever, and I mean, ever, so-called Tennessee fans, cussing out UT players at a home baseball game because they don’t like the results. That crap’s got to be policed and believe me when I tell you, it does make a difference to the players, and to the coaches, that’s all I’ll say.

Every fan in the vicinity should have taken bruh’s photo or video. Everyone has a phone.

I still have difficulty imagining that punk wasn’t a fan of another team.

Finally got home from Fayetteville after several flight delays. Here’s my 2 cents:
1) Baum Walker is a beautiful stadium with an impeccable playing surface.
2) Many of their fans are so jealous of the BaseVols that it’s kind of odd and sad at the same time.
3) Loved the flags they bring and wave.
4) The beer can hats are really silly and gimmicky.
5) Hog Pen is really cool and a great environment.
6) Nice campus and downtown square.
7) Made friends with several of their fans who were sitting in the TN section. One was a former punter for the Razorbacks who is now a physician. Super nice gentleman who had some great stories.
8) Proud of the BaseVols for another great season.

Great set of pics!
Wonderful memories.

Summary of 4th inning debacle against Ark:

1) ground ball single in hole on right side
2) fly out to RF (1 out)
3) another ground ball single in hole on right side (would have been 4-3 out if not in DP depth)
4) runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out
5) 3 pitch strikeout to 9 hole hitter. 2 outs.
6) Davalan up who is batting .470 against Southpaws and previously hit an upper deck HR in his last AB vs Doyle.
7) CFA mound visit where they elect to pitch to Davalan. Bases loaded, 2 outs
8) Passed ball on 0-1 count vs Davalan. Runners on 2B and 3B. on 1-1 count, intentionally walk Davalan with base open to load bases. CTV pulls Doyle and brings in Krenzel
9) Krenzel has a wild pitch. Runner scores.
10) AJ Russell in to pitch. Bases loaded. 2 outs
11) 1-2 count. wind aided Grand slam to LF. 7-1 Ark.

Baseball is a cruel game. Could have easily been no damage inning.

Looks like a excellent strategy but none of it worked the way you expected. And that's just how the game of baseball works sometimes. Just one of the many things that can happen. The wild pitches or past balls were just over throwing or trying to hard ever how you want to see it. Just like none of the teams that were in Omaha last year never made it back. I know the VOLS lost more players than anyone.
