Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Hey fam - Happy Saturday. Good win yesterday.

I needed this one today. Hope it finds others that do.

May 31, 2025: This is a time to tie up loose ends and bring to a conclusion issues that have interrupted your peace. God has already given you wisdom, and it is time to take action. Do what needs to be done so that you can move on to the next phase of your existence. Freedom awaits. Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

Those are all great possession receivers. You can be a star WR in the NFL and not be a game breaker. With that said, the best of the best wide receivers tend to have elite explosiveness.

It's why the 3 best WRs of the last 25 years are universally recognized as Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, and Calvin Johnson. All 3 were tall, fast, and could jump. Having every trait be elite makes you legendary. You can't be the best and not have elite speed.

And the standard people are holding Jeremiah Smith to isn't just that he'll be a good WR in the NFL. But people are calling him generational and in the category with some of the best we've ever seen. Well those guys tend to be very fast. They're just not elite in one category but in every category.
The best WR (and it’s not close) to ever play want that fast. As a matter of fact he ran a 4.6 40.
Marvin Harrison Jr. is not gonna be a first ballot Hall of Famer. If your argument is Jeremiah Smith will be a good #1 option in the NFL, I'd agree with you. My comparison for him is Dez Bryant who was a really good #1 WR for the Cowboys. However, nobody is confusing Dez Bryant with Moss, T.O., or Calvin Johnson. People are talking about Jeremiah Smith as if he's in that mold. That's all I'm pushing back against.

I think Jeremiah Smith will be a very good NFL WR. I just don't see a generational talent because of his lack of elite explosiveness. And I would say the same for Marvin Harrison Jr not matter how good a rookie year he had.
and Brad Kayaa will be a star in the NFL and Josh Dobbs will be the greatest QB the NFL has ever seen. Smith is very explosive. He could very well end up like Moss or TO. As far as Johnson? Let’s stop a little. He had what 4 great years? Maybe 5? While they were great that’s it. Yes he was big and fast but you act I like he is a top 5 WR if all time. He isn’t.

Ugh. I had serious hopes we would break their souls in Tuscaloosa before N*** ditched us.

Not sure what their QB situation is either though. Maybe they're where we are and we still can pull it off. The D needs to be even better than last year without RB1 and QB1.

Deer ran into my truck two months ago. $3500 damage. Fixed it. Two weeks after getting it back, a Georgia cop ran into same truck and totaled it.
Damn.

And I’ve never heard of a cop causing an accident, but I see those guys texting or computing and driving all the time. Not surprised. Don’t shoot the messenger @Ulysees E. McGill
