Not negative the truth results don't lie.
Not sure why she would have bothered to sign Spearman or Latham if that was the truth.

Really pissy about the rebounding issue aren’t you? 🤣

How about looking across the landscape of her first year and focusing on the areas where huge improvements were made, rather than seek out and focus on areas that obviously need improvement.

Mulkey likes those second chance points. I do too evidently not the game we play under Coach Kim. Mulkey goes out and gets rebounding cause she knows players miss a lot of shots in games and having those players that can get the miss and put it back in is a win. Sure she thinks this player will take up the Smith slack and she already had another big out of Notre Dame.

Supposed to be the game we play under Kim but we need small forward/guards who will crash the glass.

No reason Coop, Whitehorn, Latham and Spearman shouldn’t average 6+ boards a game. Needs to be an individual desire from our entire team. Which is what Kim wants. Rather than relying on one person to get 15rebs a game like Mulkey we just need 3 willing to grab 5.

Rebounding, as we all know, is 90% effort and 10% positioning. Gotta want it.

Look at the games don't take my word for it. We lost to LSU twice because of second chance points. Lost games to Texas and Oklahoma for the same reason. Others. Knowing a problem looking for a solution not seeing it yet. Yes we have the two players you mentioned they do well not enough evidently to win any of those game I mentioned. Don't shoot the messenger for delivering where we need more of a solution.

This is what I will be looking at next season. Sure that is a solution I hope we get it that way. We didn't get enough this past season hopefully that is going to change. Stopping those second chance points turns losses into wins it is that simple.

She said several times over the course of the season that her best rebounders are usually guards and that we needed more of that from our perimeter.

Whitehorn started the season really hot on that front and then cooled when competition got tougher. She looked like she was going to be great on the offensive glass for us and she finishes really well in traffic. Needs to be a goal for her this season.

We'll have to get more out of the guards if were going small. They definitely have the abilty only Cooper really answered her call the rest underacheived at the guard and perimeter positions.

Reasonable. Definitely need a greater focus on rebounding. The portal will be open another week. There are solutions to that talent gap available. The question becomes, how to get them to camp.

I ponder how these negotiations occur. I, admittedly, worked for one employer most of my career. Left a couple of times for other opportunities only to return when offered enhanced opportunities in an environment I felt “at home”.

Hopefully we sift the portal to find another round of Lady Vols by spirit, not mere mercenaries.

Same small guards who are going to aggressively trap in the backcourt then sprint to frontcourt in time to prevent the easy layup off the mismatch. If they'll just give even more effort, they'll snag lots of rebounds away from the SEC bigs, right?

So much about this approach is nonsensical that it actually makes it an interesting experiment.

Janiah Barker could make it make sense!

I definitely think were going to be a better team next season. We'll beat some of the top conference teams last year at home this time cause one area where I think were definitely going to see improvement is turnover ratio and three point shooting. I can see us winning turnovers by a few more a game just because we have five more players that are better at it that the five that left. I can see free throw shooting being better as well. I don't think we will have double digit losses I can see that being as low as five. If the rebounding is on par with the top teams I can see us winning the conference cause if we can match them there no way they can match us in areas where we are clearly better.

Not disagreeing with the comment but if you have your guards crashing the boards and you don't get the rebound, who is left to get back on D. I'm sure Kim would have that figured out but I am more in the need of one good rebounder or shot blocker to police the paint.

Not going to take a lot to win a few games we lost last season. A couple more threes and make a couple more free throws and we have about three or four losses. I believe her system will work for wins with the right personell. I think you at least need three or four players that can play inside. Very delighted with the two we have Barker would make that a lot better.

Definitely my way of getting it done. That one player that can help you there can make so much difference in winning and losing.

Thing is, teams above us in the league aren't standing still. They've gotten lots better too.

I said yesterday, to my dismay, we have to hope you know who is right about the freshmen.

Yes mostly in the same way they played last year. LSU has done quite well getting bigs inside to go with some elite freshmen and the return of Johnson and Williams. They look like the SEC favorite to me. Texas just replaced a big they lost got one freshman that is good not much more there. I actually think we may have a better roster than they do next season. Oklahoma returns are solid added the number one freshman makes them a little better think were just as good Kneepkens may push them past us. Ole Miss signed some players I don't think they are any better lost a lot probably gained it back will be a tough team to play not a better roster than Tennessee. Bama nothing out of them worth anything. SC not any better JMO the same lose Fulwiley gained Latson. Vanderbilt has the two still together should be about the same. Kentucky looks to have less than last season. Georgia has improved they are the best of the worst.

So right now my rankings

LSU
SC
Tennessee
Oklahoma
Texas
Ole Miss
Vanderbilt
Kentucky
Georgia
The rest in any order you like.

Who we get or who any of these teams gets changes it a little. Kneepkens pushes Oklahoma to third. I don't see us getting out of third a little more rebounding we could challenge SC for second. I can't see how LSU is not the clear favorite next season. They along with Tennessee have added the most and they are doing better than we are in the portal right now.

Most of these takes are not logical basketball analysis.
No SEC teams have gotten better on paper through the portal. Ole Miss signed a lot of players that put up stats on mid-major teams or bad Power 4 teams outside of Cotie, while losing both PGs and Scott a top draft pick. Texas will be about the same. South Carolina I believe is losing a lot with Feagin, Hall, PaoPao,and Fulwiley gone.
I don’t care who the player is and especially in this case 1 player doesn’t come close to replacing what SC loss here with 3 of those being WNBA draft picks.
We’ve played against Latson and she will score but your guard(s) will score a lot too.
LSU is not better and it’s not even close.
They took a step back this season after losing Reese.
They’ll take a bigger step back after losing Morrow.
You don’t replace Morrow with a sophomore center who averaged 5ppg, or even Williams if she goes there.
Tennessee will develop the freshmen class which has been done successfully across WBB on the Power 4 level, continue to improve and build with the key players who are returnees from a Top 15 team, and sign a few players via the portal to fill needs in the post positions.
This team as mentioned by Coach Caldwell is viewing the upcoming season goal as an Elite 8 and Final 4 mark. They aren’t putting themselves in no underdog role.
GBO ‘solid’!

🤣😂 come on now getting beat by LSU twice and then to say if they do add Williams who was a first team BIG10 player wouldn’t make them better is ridiculous.

You can’t hype Nyla up from the ACC to not even act like Williams wouldn’t make a difference on a team like LSU.

Did you forget LSU also signed an incredible freshman class too….TN isn’t the only school in the SEC bringing in freshman.

Your takes can be good but also very one sided, it’s nothing wrong with being down for the lady vols but come one please be realistic.

LSU has the best SEC roster right now JMO. SC second best roster. Tennessee third. I don't see that changing a lot we could add Fulwiley and Williams and might be reguarded as the number one roster. LSU gets Williams just makes them more so the number one roster more than now. SC could add and move up. Texas and Oklahoma could also. To me this is the top five teams and portal moves could change the dymanics of any of these rosters.
