Lots of fans on the GQ want Tim Banks and Willie fired. I honestly think that is premature because we lack talent and quality depth in the secondary (been that way for 2 years). Any thoughts?

Big overeaction to a game or two lol. We literally improved YoY. Just keep progressing.

Especially with WM. He is beyond proven.

But yeah I'd be fine with a shorter leash for Banks. Just never saw him as proven (as a sole DC). But he'll for sure be he another year so we best hope they all progress.

Ron, I totally get why you are mad. But, this new, pissed off Ron is not the Ron we love. Not telling you what to post by any stretch. Just saying that I hope you get past this rough spot soon.
Don’t think I’ll ever get over that game. Certainly not anytime soon. They better not lose this weekend.

Gavin Glitch? I think I would rather stick with Byron.

WTH….. this kind of thinking pisses me off.

Well...at least he admitted the truth, and to be fair all of us thought SC had quit on the season....it sure as hell looked like it. The point differential of their loss to UF was a TD more than their victory over us and they looked like they didn't give a runny 💩 in that game.

After all, when you think about it..these are young dudes who had never had this much gas pumped up their ass. They had come up from being the laughingstock of CFB to handing out ass whippings on the regular, and getting major accolades from every direction...I can see how that could affect them mentally.

It is human nature and as much as I hate it, I kind of get where it came from. I really hope they learned their lesson. It was a dearly bought and paid for lesson.

I'm with you on that. Losing to crap teams when we were crap is one thing, but going from a chance at the CFP to losing to uscjr coached by dweeb beamer is going to sting for a long while. They need to win this weekend or we lose a ton of momentum that we built this year.

63 points with only 1 stop to an inept offense is not a collapse, it’s abhorrent, fireable.
1 game of anything isn't fireable. Anymore than keeping the West champs to 13 pts or UK to a mere 6 is worthy of raises.

Take the season as a whole and dear god actually wait till the season ends. People wanted lifetime extensions for all staff after we were 7-0. I said let it play out. Patience. Then want to see heads roll after 1 bad loss. I still say let it play out. Patience. Wait to take the season as a whole, because so far we have only progressed YoY. Let's see them finish out.

WHy they just didn't put a cap across the board for all players I'll never know. It would keep a lot of "I don't get paid enough" and I believe the portal wouldn't be as near as crazy as its going to be soon.
Let's cap your private income while we're at it...😒

And not a squeak when coaches were making $10mm a year. Shocking.

It's almost like its the coaches job to deal with those very things, same as in the minors and pros, and every coach is in the same position so it's an even playing field anyway.

Ugghh we made Beamer something for a damn week. I need Clemson to blast them and shut this clown up. He lives for a little spotlight and is an awful coach.
One good thing about the cockpocalypse is that they will keep Satterfield, they will almost have to now..lol...and this win will cause them to hang on to Beamer far longer than they would have before it happened.

Silver lining

people straight up lie nowadays. when confirnted they simply say 'well, I felt pressured. So I said that under pressure and it isnt true.'

And thats an adequate defense. Point is, financial fraud, while should be a big deal. Wont be. Deoin will just claim he was a victim.
Victim of his own show? No one will buy it but they wouldn’t be hiring him to run a pension fund. In big time college football there are a lot more opportunities to get looped into some dirty business dealings tho.

He will roll in **** and smell like roses.

That poll is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen.

That dude who put the poll up - what did he compete in at a high level?
Watch the game again and focus on individuals...there were several guys that for sure were not playing very hard.

I don't think they really "threw" the game, but...what was that? It is easy to spot and many people saw the lack of effort by a bunch of guys and wondered why?

Did you watch Sal Sunseri teams play? 5-7.

You can throw all the stats in the world at me. 5-7. That's what I remember. They were awful. It was hard to watch.

This team isnt hard to watch. Its always fun, yes its offense.

They were thin to start the season, and, had to play Hadden. Like I said, criticism is warranted. But, it isnt a catastrophe.

Lose to Vandy, and all bets are off.
That was not a catastrophe? Then what in the f'n hell would you call a "catastrophe"? 🤪

That was about as catastrophic a performance as you can possibly have.

It was definitely a catastrophe.

Fair enough. I see your point.

I do think Martinez has good experience, and, is bringing in a slightly above average class. My point is to urge a wait and see approach to situation.

Fortunately none of this matters since our opinions are not important.
If we have to keep Banks and Martinez, I will go along because there is nothing I can do about it...but I will be expecting a defensive disaster like that again at any moment.

I will not get shocked again...and the screams for firing will be deafening when Banks putrid defensive gameplans and safety coaching, and Martinez's putrid cornerback coaching cost us again and again and again.

I'm still keeping perspective. But I am still hot under the collar because Martinez is still employed and I want Banks gone at the end of the season.

A 9-2 team that should be 10-1 who is top ten and should be a top five team is #100 in total defense, #85 in 4th down conversion defense, #43 in red zone defense, #96 in team passing efficiency defense, #66 in team sacks and #61 in scoring defense. All while being #14 in turnover margin at +8.

All of that tells the story after giving up 63 points to mediocrity. It tells how fantastic the offense is and how sorry the defense is. The turnover margin is eye popping with an offense as wide open as ours is. We rarely turn it over against a tough schedule.

I am quite a few pages behind, but I was planning on posting something very similar. If anyone had told us at the beginning of the year that we would not only claw our way into the top 10 in year 2 of the Heupel reign, but that we would actually even be ranked number 1 in the initial CFP poll, we would have said that they were crazy. If anyone had told us at the beginning of the year that we would beat Pitt, Florida, Bama, and LSU along with blowing out KY and Mizzou while losing road games to UGA and Scar with a chance to finish the season at 10-2, we would have told them that they had lost their minds. The whole team played like a big ole pile of hot garbage on Saturday and it was obvious that their heads weren't in the game at all. However, the defense that got torched also held up an offense the struggled in the Pitt game and gave us a chance to get the W. That defense stifled LSU all game long and let the offense operate from exactly the position that they operate best from. That defense has gotten key stops in pivotal moments of games all year long and have done so with a huge deficit of talent. I am not giving anybody a pass and serious conversations need to be had about whether we have the right people in the right spots, but crapping all over a team that has given us a season that we never even truly dreamed was possible at this point in Heup's tenure is a slap in the face to everything that they accomplished this year. Feel free to do just that if you want, but I for one refuse to diminish their accomplishments and all the hard work and dedication that they have poured into this team. I was able to be in Neyland when we beat both Florida and Bama and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to see those amazing games. Those players and coaches made that possible and I will never crap on them because they all deserve better.

People are not wrong for being pissed at the defense for that game.

I don't know if I will ever be over it either..."nightmare" is the perfect word for it. It was the kind of game that usually gets people fired for sucking at their jobs so bad
I'll be over it if and when we hang 70 on that clown. I despised his dad and I despise the minibutch.
