it's the worst we've looked up front

at least in the Bama game Young had to run around to make plays. I can handle that. I don't know if Rattler could have done that.

He just sat back there like he was playing Madden on easy. Watching the whole play develop, standing still. Disgusting.
Once again...egregious holding..plus no creative blitzing, just the same vanilla ones we run a few times in every game.

DL has been good all year.

They got owned by SC.
How and Why?...if way lesser DLs could get pressure and we could not....then why? The fact that they got held egregiously had a lot to do with it...and tge fact is they were half-assing it a lot of times also.

We have gotten consistent pressure on far better OLs than SCs garbage unit.

Why were they half-assing it?

Well, we are in the bargaining stage. The first "we can still make the playoffs" thread is up.

How many more days until Voltwitter doubles down and starts #checkervandy back up?

The best unit on defense:
- Omari Thomas- 4 star
- Tyler Barron- 4 star
- Dominic Bailey- 4 star
- Bryson Eason- 4 star
- Tyre West- 4 star
- James Pearce- 4 star
- Joshua Josephs- 4 star/5 star
- Roman Harrison- 4 star
- Dajon Terry- 3 star
- Latrell Bumphus- 3 star
- Byron Young- 14th Juco

5 of these were in the top 250. Only Terry was outside the top 500.

Offense:
- Hendon Hooker- 3 star/4 star
- Jalin Hyatt- 4 star
- Bru McCoy- 5 star
- Ramel Keyton- 4 star
- Darnell Wright- 5 star
- Cooper Mays- 4 star
- Jerome Carvin- 4 star
- Jackson Lampley- 4 star
- Javontez Spraggins- 3 star

Most were in the top 350. Only position group on offense that doesn't have a 4 star is RB and TE. These rankings don't look like the secondary.

Guess which groups are the weakest? RB, TE, and the secondary.

It's not lazy at all...because I just did the work and it's all right there in black and white.
Now do all the teams that kept SC under 62. It is lazy. To blame players instead of the people in charge of putting them a place to succeed is a cop out. Tim Banks is in way over his head. He has no idea what he's doing.

That's not how this works.

We held LSU to 13 points. Bama gave up 32 points to LSU. It's not that simple. There's always going to be fluctuations in outcomes. For example the best defenses in the country may average around 25% on 3rd down. The worst are closer to 50% or slightly worse. It doesn't take much for the best third down defense to play like the worst. A penalty here or there, a tough third down catch made by a wr, a QB breaking contain and all of a sudden you go from 2/8 (25%) to 4/8 (50%).

There's too much variance to be able to take any one game and say "look, they did this with the talent they have! Clearly their coaching is better!".
63 points to that offense is absolutely inexcusable. I have defended them all year...until now. I can not defend that gameplan or coaching.

Holly Jollie just needs a few more years to get her system and players in, right @InVOLuntary ?

I don't get it. No one predicted we would beat Bama, LSU, Florida, and Pitt and have a chance to win 10-11 games this year. We have played above our heads all year long. Now, we have a really bad loss to a bad SC team, and we're trying to find something wrong with us. Why can't the reason be that we have played above our heads all year, especially with the lack of talent we have on defense. We went to a road environment at night, we played horrible and also lost our starting QB, both starting corners, and a starting WR while also missing our best LB and at the same time SC played outstanding. Yes, some of that was due to our poor defense, but anyone who watches that game can see that Rattler played at a level he had never played at before. He was dropping dimes, even when on the run he was putting balls on the money. Sometimes that happens. Why do we have to find something wrong?

I don't understand this firing everybody, looking for internal problems, trying to find something to blame. Fact is, we are still a low talent team on defense and SC played above their heads and we played horribly. But this doesn't mean that everything is burning down, or that our program is about to be in shambles, or whatever else I've seen.

Look at other teams. UGA went 8-4 in year 1 with a loss to Vandy. Yes, they went to the NC in year 2, but they played no one to get there. They had a pitiful SOC that year, and they got blown out by AU in the regular season. They got to go to the NC because they played AU again, instead of Alabama in Atlanta and then went on to lose to Bama for the championship game. That playoff appearance doesn't happen if they play Bama in Atlanta.

In year 3, GA went 11-3, with a blowout loss to a mediocre LSU team, a loss to Bama in Atlanta, and a loss to a mediocre Texas team in the bowl game.
In year 4, Kirby lost to a 4-8 (4-8!!!!) SC team in a day time game at Willie B and then got blown out by LSU in Atlanta.

In year 5, Kirby went 8-2 with blowout losses to Florida and Alabama. Uncompetitive losses in both games.

And Kirby did that with far more, far more talent than what Heup has. Our roster would not compete with any of those rosters, especially on defense, and we're wanting to burn the program down looking for answers because of one bad loss. So many are panicked because of one bad loss? Give me a break! That doesn't mean that some changes shouldn't be made on defense, but I just don't understand why there are so many looking for explanations to what happened. It's year 2.
Good post Bass. As of this evening I’m still wanting someone to beat Georgia!

Vanderbilt has a good coach in CL, Vols will have to come out ready to fight saturday or it wont be a good result
The embattled DC has to have a good plan to limit Mike Wright from running all over the defense in the QB run game
One thing that works in Vols favor is it should be a good crowd nothing like Georgia or Scar

Gonna call my shot
UGA blasts LSU next Saturday, they’re out.
OSU beats Michigan by 30, they’re out.
Kansas State runs through TCU, they’re out.
The fighting Cadillacs kick a last second fg to beat Bama taking them to 9-3, they’re out.
UNC smokes Clemson in the ACC title game, they’re out.
ND beats USC by 10, they’re out.
USC turns it around and beats Oregon in the PAC12 championship keeping Oregon outside the top 10.
Vols beat Vandy 60-6.. Joe throws 6 TD’s and rushes for 1…Defense holds Vandy to 150 passing, 56 rushing
On selection Sunday,
1. UGA
2. OSU
3.Vols sneak in
4. Michigan sneaks in

Then the rapture takes place

That’s not how that works…now do the teams that gave up more to LSU and UK. Georgia gave up the same number of points as us. Alabama, Ole Miss, and Florida all gave up more to LSU. I guess their defensive talent is worse?

It’s one game (yes bad). But they’ve played good games defensively in 11 played.

And we destroyed Kentucky and Georgia couldn't score. Nothing makes sense.

Losing matters for sure. That's why we have to recruit. If we have the option of two equal corners and one gets up and talks trash after a bad play and the other hangs his head, give me the kid running his mouth 100% of the time.
Give me the kid that shuts his stupid dumbass mouth, grits his teeth and plays better instead of running his mouth being a damn fool.

It is stupid...period.

Lol. That is how it works. We played SC. Those teams played SC. We stopped them one time. Never made them settle for a field goal.

Look, you can defend that ineptitude all you want. I can guarantee you he'll get a maximum of one more year. We won't be as good on offense next year, it can't carry the defense like this season. He won't make it past next season.

Do I need to be specific? Are you saying you can't think of ANY teams with lesser talent that play better defense? A paper bag plays better defense than we do.
I was asking if you were thinking of anyone…. A lot of people mentioned Zach Arnett and until Saturday our defense had been better than theirs.
