Id be fine with this. Go 12-1 and finish the season with a Sugar Bowl blowout win. Get some momentum for the next recruiting cycle. Honestly id rather blast someone in the Sugar bowl then go to the playoffs and get our heads beat in. We just dont have the talent yet.

Nope. We get the chance, we go. Once in a lifetime experience for some of our players and no way it's it certain that we get our heads beat in. In fact, if we get there, we can win.

UGA is the only one who I think would beat us. And it would be much closer on a neutral site. We could beat any of the other teams. Ohio State would be the most likely opponent in my opinion, and they're beatable. We may not win, but we shouldn't get our heads beat in. Much better to make the playoffs and lose vs win the sugar bowl.

I’d rather go to the playoff, even if it means we lose in round 1. Getting there shows to everyone, recruits included, that Tennessee can make it as a program. I think getting the #1 ranking last week was a big reason that crowd was so hyped at UGA, and probably aided in our defeat, but I’m glad we got it because it shows definitively that we can get it (plus it softened the blow of the loss on our subsequent ranking). While we are this close, I’d like to check the box on a few things people have been saying Tennessee can’t do.

We can beat anyone. Georgia had a great game and we weren’t ready. It happens on the road in the SEC. We are a playoff team. I would hate killing a mediocre Texas when we have 11 wins and a playoff team

I dont think so. UGA won that game because of how well they do in December. What Heup has done is amazing but we just dont have the complete roster to be true contenders. 2 more years and we will be there.

I am really trying to not get pissed, that stuff I said was over the line....but the UGA worship is disgusting me.

You can acknowledge their good gameplan without acting like they are the 86 Bears.

The TRUTH is that as good as they played...there were a LOT of huge plays that should have been made.
I couldn't help myself, you were cracking me up

UGA is the exception. We will be more competitive on a neutral site if we get the 4 spot, but hopefully the committee doesn't want a first round rematch and gives us the 3 spot. We can be competitive with anyone, especially anyone not named uga on a neutral site.

Haha I’d love murdering a mediocre Texas team. We couldn’t beat them by enough for my liking.

That’s be a fantastic consolation prize if Tennessee doesn’t make the playoff.

Win out and we’re #3 in the playoffs. No way the committee allows a rematch in the semis.

And I like our chances at a rematch in the finals.
I think a rematch in the semis is sure as hell preferable to a rematch in the championship from their perspective.

They won because they were pissed and had to win or miss the playoffs. It was the loudest it had ever been there and we couldn’t communicate at all. It was the perfect storm for them and we somehow only lost by fourteen with as bad as we played. If we play on a neutral site, it’s a one possession game either way. People forget this team almost lost to Mizzou and Kent state scored over twenty on them. College football is all about momentum and advantages. They took full advantage and we weren’t ready. It wouldn’t happen again.

I dont think so. It was close because Kirby took the air out of the ball in the second half. Our defense couldnt stop a nose bleed and our offense couldnt move.

IF we see Georgia again, I think our offense plays much better than they did yesterday. The problem is, will our defense? I'm not sure the defense can be fixed without better players. Pressure on Bennett was almost non-existent, and our DBs continue to struggle.

@jave36 I still say this LSU player has possession of the ball with two hands and the ground as a third point and his left knee was down. The play is over before the AL guy slaps it out of his hand: he didn't "touch" it. He slapped it out of a guys hand after he was down. If the LSU player had stood up and run for a TD, the refs would have called him down right where he is in this photo.View attachment 511388
Also, this ball was tipped:

That's 6 points total.

I really believe this is why Brian Kelly went for 2 in overtime. He didn't trust the refs/review crew to call it fair in the 2nd overtime and didn't give Birmingham a chance to steal the game. I'm not a BK fan but he did the right thing in OT.

Edit: Not Chip

Kirby would have scored sixty if he could. He didn’t hold back. He played smart since it poured almost the entire second half and didn’t want to risk a pick six or give us dumb points. He wanted us to earn them. Big reason we couldn’t throw and tried to run too. I was there. It was a down pour.
