Smart of them. We couldn’t move the ball and it poured most of the second half. Why risk a pick six? We ran a lot more than we wanted to as well. But you couldn’t throw it that weather. Everything went well and for them. Just one of those games. Would love a rematch on a neutral field.Georgia attempted 2 passes in the second half.
I think there is really something to Hooker's lackluster performance yesterday and the false starts, instant pressure he was not used to (clearly, didn't know what to do and took sacks instead of throwing the ball away which had me yelling) and having Tillman out there...
I made that comment about Tillman possibly throwing the rhythm out of whack a few weeks ago, and I think it was there yesterday... The second half, even Danielson pointed out a few times where Hooker only looked to his left and there were a few of our WR's wide open on the right...
THIS WEEK IS WHERE WE SEE HOW GOOD HEUP AND THIS STAFF ARE AT REBOUNDING, GETTING OUR PLAYERS MINDS RIGHT, AND MAKING ADJUSTMENTS.
Watching Hooker come off the field yesterday, he didn't look happy at all (of course he didn't) so I hope he lets his performance fuel him this week in practice and watching tape so that he goes out against Mizz and lights them up.
Plenty of fixable things to learn from yesterday.
**** Remember at the first of the season when we weren't even in the top 25???
Regarding the Bama one, LSU player absolutely did not have possession yet. There was no rewarding the Bama player, he just touched an unposessed ball while out of bounds so the play ended.
The mizzou play was just unfortunate. You have to protect punters, and he was punting. But 99% of the time the punter runs in that situation, so the mizzou player tackled instead of blocking. That was UF level of lucky for UK.
This is a good take. If a dab is running stride for stride with you down the sideline a back shoulder to one of the best receivers adjusting to a catch in the country is a great throw. You have to do this in order to make the dbs actually think about what you may do. I said the same thing to everyone watching the game with me. Screens would have been a huge huge with the blitz packages that Georgia was running as well.Uhmm..if Hooker hits those 3-4 shots and backshoulders Ced on that INT...you are not sitting here talking about how great their DBs are.
Those misses by Hendon were HUGE in the perception if this game. Any time you play a good defense you have to the opportunities you get...those opportunities are at a premium. The absolute fact is that there were several (not two) WIDE open plays against that unbeatable, insurmountable defense and HH didn't make them yesterday....but they were there to be made.
I’m sure the team would like a retrySmart of them. We couldn’t move the ball and it poured most of the second half. Why risk a pick six? We ran a lot more than we wanted to as well. Truth...he just had a bad game...like the OL he played tentatively instead of aggressively. If had thrown Ced backshoulder I believe it would have changed a lot of things about the game for Hendon.Good post.
To deny that HH was not a major part of the problem yesterday does not change the truth. It's OK to say it. He held the ball too long all game. He had many receivers open earlier in routes than he typically likes and could not pull the trigger. They were ready to catch it as well. In other longer routes he held it and did not trust them to break open, especially with Hyatt. Had he released it, Hyatt broke open frequently.
He did not throw the ball away and avoid sacks. It's all teachable moments, but he's 24 in his 6th season. It needs to be learned before he hits the next level or he will not be successful.
I hope he can be highly successful here the rest of his games and in the NFL because he is light to the world and a great human being. One of my favorite Vols ever.
