The DeSantis containment thread -- all things DeSantis go here

That article you didn’t read has all the answers you’re looking for. 😁
Actually, I did read it. It said that the counties that were the hardest hit and asked for help were the ones he helped. Apparently you democrats look for any way you can to cheat. My aunt Nancy had her power go out for 2 days and can't vote, send help DeSantis.

Orange County, and Republican leaning Brevard and Seminole Counties were also hit pretty hard.

You’re downplaying the damage that was done down here, and that’s unfortunate. I’ve got friends and co-workers who were displaced from their homes and had automobiles totaled due to flood damage. Their lives have been turned upside down.

It’s obvious which side your bread is buttered on, but I don’t think it’s asking too much for DeSantis to make statewide concessions to all counties that were affected by Hurricane Ian.

He loses zero political capital for being consistent.

Well, explain to me how they are so damaged they can't vote without some special mail-in voting scheme? If your house is gone, are you going to be there to receive a mail-in ballot? One way or the other, you have to cast a ballot, and not having a house doesn't make mail-in voting a better option. Are your local government officials too stupid to figure out a way for people to vote without DeSantis' help.

Your entire argument is full of holes.

As is yours, because you’re harping on mail-in voting. That’s only part of the equation.

If your house is gone, you can have mail forwarded to the nearest post office, while managing all those other aspects of your life that changed drastically.

I’d like to think our governor’s objective was to give these people extra time to get their lives back together. His efforts were selectively applied.

Early voting was also expanded selectively, so to your point, those people affected by the storm in certain areas CAN vote in person.

This wasn’t a scheme as you suggest, but an effort by Desantis assist those areas affected. His efforts were selectively applied.

Do you think Desantis should have made concessions at all?

The DeSantis/ Crist debate is mudslinging at its finest. The moderator is actually doing a pretty good job keeping this thing moving forward.

Neither of them has any business being in places of power. DeSantis because he abuses it, Crist because he doesn't deserve it.

Brevard? We didn't get any damage or flooding at all where I live and the eye of the storm went less than a mile from my house

Ron DeSantis crushed Charlie Crist. It wasn't even close. This guy is the top governor in the country. @lawgator1 @Lawrence Wright I don't see why you guys would complain or try to undermine this guy. Do you know how many states need a governor like this to help turn them around. Can you imagine if Florida would've stupidly elected the woke, homosexual, corrupt, drug user. Your state would be in a world of hurt. No doubt about it and you know it or is naive.

Goes to show you how phonies trick the gullible into voting for them. It's easy to see how blue states are an absolute trainwreck. Can you imagine if this guy got elected? It's hard to fathom that he was close.

How can people be so naive? Can you really trust some people judgement?

What makes him the top governor in the country?

For one the way he led Florida through the hurricane repairing infrastructure in seeming record time, Florida is a destination state for business, retirees, and people moving from blue states, the grade schools have some of the top test scores in the country because he kept them open more than any other state, etc. When you have other governors going after him like the loser in California it's clear.

I actually think Bill Lee did a better job during the pandemic and Tennessee is most assuredly a destination state with lower taxes than FL.

None of those counties need voting concessions. I'm from Brevard and just went there. We've seen worse. 2004 comes to mind.

And I disagree with you.

There were areas of Orange County that did just fine, and there were other areas like Orlo Vista and downtown Orlando that got 3-5 feet of flooding, trashing homes and vehicles.

Why do you think Tennessee did a better job? I'm not saying they didn't but I do know the state has low testing scores.
