Let's try this again. I read so many books a year that I would go broke if I bought them all. I do buy hard copy and online versions of new books I want and authors I want to support but don't have the extra money to buy every older series I find....two pre-teens who are a better use of that money. So I use this website for books I want to read but don't want to buy....kinda like an online library.

I know the GOAT BB player is being discussed (It was Dr. J by the way) and it got me thinking, how good would LaBrand be back in the 70's, 80's and 90's. I think he would have been really good but not what he is today. If he tried some of his move around the basket against Laimbeer or Robert Parish it would have been ugly. Now with that being said his style today would have worked back in the day because that's how they ALL played.

My Nephew just got an offer from Podunk State. Good kid, strong, loyal but a little slow foot speed though but great arm reach. We are hoping he can qualify and get an NIL deal with MENSA.Halloween2018 Special - Mr Hyde by BoskoComicArtist on DeviantArt.png
His real name is Bob but he just likes Mr Hyde...........who's going to argue with him.

It's been a long time, but I used to be a big sci-fi reader. I've forgotten more than I remember, but I liked the Riverworld series of books by Philip Jose Farmer. Macroscope and also the Ox/Orn/Omnivore series by Piers Anthony were very good. The Ringworld series by Larry Niven was excellent hard sci-fi, as was The Mote in God's Eye, by Niven and Jerry Pournelle. If you want something relatively quick and light, try The Stainless Steel Rat by Harry Harrison. And obviously the Dune series by Frank Herbert were excellent.
Liked for Stainless Steel Rat. Have not heard that title in a very long time.

Lol, apparently romance novels are the most read books (explains why there are so damn many) but that's the correct link. You can find damn near everything on there. I'm currently on Midnight Tides which is book 5 of the main 10 book Malazan series. Of course, if you feel like putting on a bunch of weight and reading about hot sex that you'll never have while you're menstruating then by all means pick one of the books on the home page.

Agreed. Current favorite read....hoping book 5 is great and doesn't kill off too many characters. It's supposed to be an ending to the first half of the series arc....could either be great or a huge letdown. With all that Sanderson has planned, books 6-10 are going to take a while for us to get.

Sanderson has taken world building to the next level of universe building with the Cosmere, yet every planetary system and its stories are self contained with minimal crossover. I absolutely can't wait for his Silverlight book(s) that focus on Hoid and how Adonalsium came to be separated into the Shards that are responsible for the various magic systems on each planet. I don't love all of Sanderson's books but Mistborn is great and Stormlight might end up being my all-time favorite series if it has a few more entries on the level of the first 3 books, especially Oathbringer. The Novellas are great too.
Kaladin is my all time favorite character so Way of Kings is probably still my favorite book. There have been some nice twists I was not expecting and I am planning on listening to the first four again before I listen to Book 5. Any idea when that is supposed to be out?

Edit: Just read it is estimated to be out December 2023.

He would have dominated in the 70's, 80's or 90's. He would most likely have grown up playing a tougher style of the game and there would have been nobody his size with comparable athleticism to guard him. He also would have most likely gone to college and refined his game earlier and been a tougher overall player who initiated contact instead of flopping.

Well boys. I'm in trouble. Wife asked me to buy the family a puzzle. Should be here by Wednesday.

If that doesn’t work out try something from the Magic Puzzle Company. They make 1000 piece puzzles that have a trick/reveal at the end. High quality stuff. I suggest the Mystic Maze as your first and they are available on Amazon. Try to avoid spoilers though.

I never said he wouldn't be good just not as good. It was a different game back then. His size would have been an advantage on the outside but the Mose's Malone's and Darrel Dawkins's of the day would have checked that inside game. The thing is we will never know and all we have done in this discussion is to get a glimps into what a Sports Radio Host gets paid for......giving their opinion and declaring it fact when in truth no one will ever know.

Here is another link to a different site that is the first page of the second Farseer trilogy, book one Fool's Errand. Sometimes the free online sites get wonky but if you Google
"Read (specific book) free online" then you'll get multiple sites with the book you want. 5 or 6 sites came up for this book. You can also find free PDFs or Epub versions to download and read in an e-reader. They are more like an online book but sometimes take you to questionable or flat out scam websites so I usually stick with the website versions where you hit "next page" when you scroll/read to the bottom of that page.

You are definitely right on the last part. I just think that he would have been more physical and used his size differently if he came up in that era. Then again, his coaches might not have let him play much of a perimeter game and could have forced him into the role of a traditional PF (power forward, not Phil Fulmer).

How you like it over there on the west side of the river?

Ok Ladies and Gentlemen, I know a lot of you are book fans and I bought a Kindle Paperwhite during Prime Days but I need a book to read. I am a big fan of Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, RR Martin, Lovecraft etc. (I love Horror, Sci-Fi, Dark Fantasy and Fantasy) but I will read anything that's good even Lit Fic (basically I read just about any genre except romance as I find those cheesy as hell). So hit me up with your suggestions.

Ok, ok everyone chill. I've got this.

The narrator is by far the very best in the business. I loved the first trilogy, liked the standalone, hated age of madness. He's gotten so ham fisted in his preachiness that he's neglected to tell an actually good story. The characters were always his strong suit, but I didn't care about any of them except maybe Sivine. And it's turned into a soap opera, no actual arc or destination for the story. I seem to be in the minority though, most people I've asked didn't hate the madness trilogy like I did.
Have you read the Rage of Dragons? Unique magic system and different than any other fantasy i've read. It has a lot of African cultural elements in it.
