‘23 CA QB Nicholaus Iamaleava (Tennessee)

We’re the amounts of money being thrown around what was being thrown around behind closed doors already or just increased because it’s open market inflation with everting overbidding instead of a handful of schools? Just amazing to know some QBs that will make millions and never do a thing. Hunter Johnson and Blake Barnett’s of world would have made killin and were horrific

Need to incorporate an incentive based NIL structuring to be better stewards of financial resources. Hell, college football is already becoming a scaled down version of professional football.

this info is not being shared. Anywhere. You’ll see players as faces of certain companies, but financial information is not being released to the public, and never will be. By any school.
It should be transparent so fans and boosters know what actually is going on with this money. That was some of the issues with the previous system. It would also be beneficial for fans to see what is the cost of championships. When it becomes obvious that championships are bought and not earned then there will be better understanding of the process.

Maybe… and I’m just spit ballin’ here but maybe kids and or their families don’t want it public knowledge that they are making that much money. Can make them an easy target for fraud, theft, and liability.
If you take the money then you should be responsible enough to manage it. Coaches salaries are published and so should players. These players are no longer amateurs, but professionals. Fans and boosters have a right to know what we are getting for our investment. The lack of transparency leads to fraud and corruption.

I knew some would get the reference. Wonder how many are completely confused by it?
Not many know about the expert qb talent evaluator that had vast experience playing qb in his subdivision two hand touch game. I wish we could do a Volnation where is he now and let Mrs. Terry interview him.

It will eventually turn into that. Right now it's the new frontier so everyone is figuring this out in real-time.

Coaches salaries are posted because they’re state employees. Players are getting paid by independent companies for endorsements. Those do not have to be disclosed

I've been thinking about how much money schools would've tossed at Tate Martell haha

It isn't "our" money... its endorsement money that belongs to the company or companies that sponsor them. Just like Peyton and home owners insurance.

I don’t think we have that right. These are private business transactions. They aren’t state or federal employees. If that was the case everyone’s compensation should have to be disclosed.

Bingo.

Though the law, as it was originally written, in TN requires all deals to be submitted to the school. Have heard some people say this could then lead them to becoming public via FOIA requests. Though I do wonder what restrictions of FOIA there may be when it comes to an individual's own side (not taxpayer related) income and the privacy most would expect on such a matter.

  • Intercollegiate athletes who earn compensation for the use of the athlete’s name, image, or likeness must disclose any agreement and the terms of such agreement to the institution and file annual reports with the institution in which they are enrolled, at a time and in a manner designated by the institution. The report must include the identities of entities or persons who provide compensation to the intercollegiate athlete, the amount of compensation received from each person or entity, and any other information the institution deems relevant for determining such identities and compensation.

Kids want it all right now. Much growth takes place between the ages of 18 and 22. I fear many players are being fed a bill of goods at the expense of their college education. No player should live in poverty, but there should be healthy oversight to ensure the integrity of the sport as well as the proper development of student-athletes.
