Tennessee is doing exactly what it needs to do regarding NIL. If you are good you will make more NIL money but that is off your own merit. You can’t just show up and expect a paycheck.

Wish I could like this a million times ^^^ I really think NIL is based more on the kid than anything. Obviously there’re bigger markets depending on the school, but Tennessee is one of the top 15 maybe even top 10 markets for kids to sell their “personal brand”. We will prove it next year with Hooker and Tillman making bank.

I’ve been a member of this board for about 15 years and prior to that was a member of grid scape from the mid 90s. My how things have changed on these boards. He who crows loudest and most often wins the daily internet lottery, I guess.
I am an alumnus, season ticket holder for 40 years, and longtime donor. I bleed orange. There are a lot of “random” people like me that wish “fans“ like you would shut the hell up. You do not represent a majority of the Vol nation. Us “random” people do.
Now back to your regularly scheduled keyboard warrior debate among ne’er-do-well negatrolls and defenders of the Orange.....

Lol. I can guarantee I have met and hung out with more VFLs and people who mean the most to this University than you ever will. Sorry if I don’t post everything is perfect. I’m very happy with Heupel and I hope he continues to do well. But to call me random is comical if you knew who I was and who I hang out with.

There are players that have entered that would start here. So yes it is difficult to understand when we have major issues on defense.

Your first sentence is absolutely unprovable. There is no guarantee that ANY player in the portal would come here and just automatically start. There are likely many reasons why the staff isn’t going after every player the fans think they should.

VQ scuttle that the coaches liked Rucker at CB...speed thing. Slaughter translates more to safety imo. Turnage impressed to the tune of SEC DPOW in his one start. Likely more with a full offseason of workouts.

It’s hard to place them right now IMO as I think we’re yet to see the full defensive scheme. Last season was simplified and all about keep them in front of you, bend don’t break. If you watch Slaughter’s HS film he was an action guy. Blitz, in middle of field, around line of scrimmage. In Pruitt’s defense that was the nickel. In Chief’s defense that was strong safety (Fred White comes to mind). Theo shined when near the line of scrimmage at nickel. Seems Slaughter is better suited for that role than safety… BUT, I think nickel is more important than the other DB positions (because you have to be able to do so many things well) so it should go to the player who plays it best…

I went years ago when they played in the Ice Chalet. They played Kentucky and brawled the whole game.
