He was on the record of scaling back on that tendency and we have his first documented failure. I’d say that Saban laid that foundation for Pruitt and like so many in that tree, he simply couldn’t replicate the success. Still prefer Heupel’s approach but maybe hearing the term shouldn’t be the death knell we’ve generally applied.

As in most all other areas, micromanaging is not always a bad thing, but it is highly circumstantial. When you don’t know what you are doing, micromanaging just becomes meddling and you are in the way, ala Jones. Although he seemed to have at least a decent football IQ, Dooley was pretty egomaniacal, and totally failed to motivate or connect with players, staff, etc. Pruitt’s track record suggests his football IQ seems fairly high (at least on the defensive side), but he totally lacked the temperament to be an HC and from what I’ve read, may be a bit of an @$$hole (which is okay as long as you are winning). Meyer seems extremely egomaniacal, and a classic case of pride goeth before the fall.

Huepel seems to have both the football IQ and the temperament, so I am hopeful.

Didn't say he was busted. Even said "he may have received a pass" as far as the NCAA ever looking for themselves.
But the NCAA always had a tier system and outside of hiring a Bama coach, we haven't been in the position to receive a pass for a while.

It’s not Heltons offense. Helton offense was trash at west ky and he went to hire Houston Baptist OC who brought his QB. That OC is going to TX tech after today. Helton will be smart to keep that scheme if he can call it the same but doesn’t help the WRs are jumping ship.

I think Pruitt was too much of a defensive guy. Seemed obsessed with things like time of possession in order to make the defense look good. I think Huepel has proved that those stats don’t mean $&¡7 in the modern game, and the only stats that matter are on the scoreboard at the end of the game.

I am not going to take shots at guys making the decision that number 2 has made, but I hope we don't lose the game late when our less talented replacement for him gets burned on a deep one. It will be a career ending loss for some and a permanent bowl record for some to defend. Games may not be impactive on championship calculations but they all matter. Heck, if we don't cover the spread in this game some will feature moral losses complete with NO EXCUSES disclaimers.

You don’t know me well lol. I don’t criticize coaches like that.

But, getting to the league is what the players who decide not to go through non-championship bowl games have worked for their whole life.

The guys that have the chance to do this also have their teammates behind them. You think Picketts teammates are hating him because of his decision? No.

Per Memphis, 2 kids tested positive. They called the game off due to contact tracing. TN Deputy AD says thats what they told her.
