Doc, that was until they saw him walking on water down by the creek…Davante Adams- Green BayView attachment 421607
This is for all you star gazers..........Enjoy the damn ride.
NIL is going to sort itself out. It already has a little bit just in one year. The only difference between before NIL and after NiL is now the players get paid legally.Sadly, that's probably what the SEC is trending towards.
Already starting to consider whether my money would be better spent at ETSU. I'll always be a Vols fan, but that doesn't require an investment, only a TV.
I'm well aware of the financial realities of recruitment. My bubble is fine.
I'm not opposed to NIL, but there is a huge difference in players being able to benefit from their name being on the jersey you bought vs it simply being a way for billionaires to legally buy athletes under the guise of NIL. The way it's currently structured, the rich will get richer, and everyone else will suffer. So yeah, I guess it is the American way.
I don’t disagree your assessment. Is it the right move if your projected top 10? 1st round? Just plain projected to be drafted? I don’t know. That’s a player by player decision. I tend to think in Pickett’s case, the cost outweighs the benefit in this QB class. My take would differ if he were coming out next year. I think his teammates and coaches understand that. If he were in the playoffs or conference championship, My take is different. It’s just a reality that playoffs have devalued bowls for some. I don’t like it. Also, Don’t confuse my take in this bowl with regular season sitting program as suggested by Mr. Check a few weeks ago. I don’t agree with that at all. This is in response to 99vol. Not sure why it’s not showing...
When 1 player does not play in his bowl because he does not want to take a chance of getting hurt because the bowl and a win for his teammates is secondary.... That’s what is happening more and more every year especially since the playoffs were started. It is now about what is best for the individual ($) and not what is best for the team.

It also gives some the opportunity to participate that otherwise would not as it is legal…Ehh I actually think it gives the smaller schools a better chance. A lot of small schools have people who own business and can structure NIL deals that way, because they don’t want to “hide” their money with bagmen etc.
The big universities had the whole bagman thing going and it gave them an advantage over smaller schools. NIL actually levels the playing field IMO.
Dayum, with Pierce and Josephs, and if we add Verse, we are set...
Go get 1-2 LB's, and OL, Copeland, and a DB in the portal -- we will be a force.
FU was better than their record. Not a bad team. Mehlen lost that team as he seemed to lose interest. We were in the infant stages of implementing at that time, and HH had not hit his stride. If Hype saw in preseason what he saw from Milton in the first few games, it’s also a different game, but he didn’t…Upset victories are a good indicator of coaching prowess. The only realnegative I have from the season is the Florida game. That was ultimately a bad team. They are more talented but they just beat them selves.
I think Heupel is a solid recruiter overall. I get it Fickell basically swooped in and took over the conference but Heupel wasn’t terrible recruiter there
Average recruit rating UCF under Heupel
2018 class 83.64 (2nd behind Cincinnati)
2019 class 84.24 (2nd behind Cincinnati)
2020 class 83.83 (4th behind Cincinnati, Memphis, SMU) Judging by this I don’t see how he’s a terrible recruiter like people have said. I get he isn’t a dominant recruiter but overall he’s very solid.
2023 class for us will be Top 10
