I know its not sexy, but with the transfers I would look at 2 Offensive Lineman (Mincey is 1), 2 Linebackers, 2 in the Secondary, and Verse. The exception is if you were to have a can't miss, gamechanging skill player at RB or WR, but outside of that we need serious depth in those 3 groups and I feel confident that another year of development for our skill players will give us plenty of firepower going into '22

While I do agree with your comment, I am wondering if we don’t have someone else back channeled who is going to play his bowl game and then enter the portal that is even better. I think that is why VQ is making the comment about we may wait until after bowl games to see who enters. It almost feels like to me the coaches are telling them to put this out there so that we will be patient, because we already have a plan.
That’s what I’m hoping. But it worries me that we haven’t heard of even one visiting when their is some talent in the portal right now. It is our biggest weakness still and should be our number one priority.

I am truly dumbfounded how we haven’t swung at some good ILB’s in the portal. I’m truly starting to question BJM as a recruiter and coach. How can you look at our ILB situation and not be on the phone with Diabute all the time. We have one proven ILB and if he came, he would be our best linebacker.
There are still 2 more major waves we'll see in the portal season. There may be someone out there they find more appealing. VQ has vaguely alluded to this.

I think they are trying to find some overlooked kids at the HS level still. There's probably a good number of them that didn't sign on ESD and will be signing on NSD for one reason or another. They also may be excited with the guys they got getting another year in the system, and they've also been working other guys at ILB during bowl practice.

It's a position of need, but if everyone returns we may only need one ILB really. A lot of the plug & play guys at that position in the portal don't sign anything and basically just show up where they want in January (or Summer if they wait until after Spring Ball) so who knows.

How do you know we haven’t?
Answered this already to someone, but I don’t for sure. But VQ stating that we only brought in a few portal players to visit and none were linebackers worries me. I hope (like OGbaby said), they have back channeled a LB or two and they are waiting til after Bowl season to get them to transfer. But we didn’t sign a game changing ILB and we only have one proven ILB for next year. We need one or two transfers.

Sorry...I just got a ton of crap back then for wanting Fulmer out from what I called sheep. They were fine with 7-5 and 8-4 and getting our teeth bashed in annually by Saban, Meyer and Richt in perpetuity.

Of course it all went sideways thanks to hiring Kiffin and Kiffin bolting. I thought for sure the dumbasses would hire a good coach to replace Phil....but nope.

It is the dumbasses that that think (if that is what you want to call it) there is always a better coach out there that led us to those disasters. We have had several AD's that wanted to play the "This is Tennessee" card. Starting with Hamilton. If you don't have a better guy on speed dial you don't pull the trigger. I had no problem with those that thought CPF was not going to be able to sustain the level he had achieved. I don't think he could, nor do I think anybody could. He maximized the landscape of his day and that landscape changed as success in the regional states schools that we killed in recruiting trended up. Less hey to make, lower win rates in the living rooms, and there you have it. When your best available list includes guys like Kiffin and Pruitt you might be better served to defer a year when you have a sitting coach.

Yo firearm folk..

My son feels confident with rifles atp, (he really is a good shot, keep telling myself I'm letting him win😖)
Now he's wanting to learn shotguns and I haven't had to buy anything new in .. oof, let' just say the Blackberry was a dream of the future.

Thinking I'll start him with a 20 pump. Obviously want reliable but doesn't need anything too nice, rougher on them than I was at his age.
So, where are all the cool kids shopping these days? Current notorious pieces of junk to avoid?
I own two mossberg shotguns, the 88 and 590 shockwave, both very reasonable and both very reliable!

We shall see. But with as bad as our ILB situation was last year and no one could take over Beasley, makes me worried. Plus, I don’t want a freshmen starting at ILB in the SEC. Maybe they have someone locked in who will come after bowl season. I would love an LSU linebacker….

I don’t hate him, but he was supposedly involved in Pruitt’s shenanigans. The hiring of Pruitt was desperation. Maybe should have hired someone else, but that is minor compared to other things.
He had little choice when Pruitt was hired. He made a major mistake of continuing to support him after the 2020 debacle and the fallout from the McD bags. It does not in any way erase everything else he accomplished.

Always love deals but full honesty, part of it is seeing a really nice firearm go thru my son's "care".
Everyone has flaws and his isn't a mystery.

1st thing I did was check family for a umm, cosmeticly challenged used model but no luck. Should've kept a shotgun and handed down while dad got the brand new. For sentimental reasons..
as far as he knows.

Yeah, locally where I am pawn shops & ace hardware usually have some quality firearms. New England would fit the mold pretty well as I think most out are used (not sure they make anything new). I'd check with a local pawn shop that carries guns, even if they don't have what ya need they can act as the broker if you snag something online. Typically easier to do it that way with a small spot that knows ya.

There’s a lot of affordable shotguns out there that are good quality. A good middle ground, and I’ll probably get crap for this, is the Remington 870. Also depends on what you want to use it for and if you have an action preference. Most pumps are going to be on the more affordable side. You don’t get to ridiculous territory action wise until you start talking over/ understand and some of the high end semi autos.

My dove gun is a mossberg 500. I like my pump guns with longer barrels.

That is what Swain alluded to. Players not in the portal interested in Tennessee. He said specifically that they are ILB’s which suggests he is referring to specific players and not making generalizations.

I don’t understand this trend of young NFL coaches refusing to kick FGs. Browns and Chargers coaches never kick FGs. Chargers should have 9 more pts in this game and game would have been over for awhile. I get going for it and being aggressive in situations but you have to take points in these games. He will probably get lucky and win but for no reason made my +4 bet more stressful than it had to be lol
Analytics. In the long run, supposedly pays off. Not in individual games, IMO, which kinda defeats the purpose of making an ingame decision.

Stevens has a good pump action that Walmart also carries. They’re $157. Choke tubes are a little harder to find for them. Good little shotguns. Bought each of my sons one last years as a starter shotgun for them. I was please fly surprised by the quality at that price. Historically, stevens has always made a decent shotgun.

This time last year the portal game wasn’t considered a viable thing and Heupel wasn’t even the HC…and now we’re behind? All the dominos haven’t been set up…much less fallen. And signing a high school “game changing ILB” isn’t signing a “proven ILB”. If it were then Aaron Willis would have met the definition.

Every Fulmer basher loved the Pruitt hire. Slurped it up like crazy. Shoot, had he been hired a few years later, his money bag schemes would have been heralded because it was landing and keeping the guys in campus. I love Fulmer, it was ultimately a very bad hire, because Proot sucked at building a program, and he wasn’t really AD material but he doesn’t deserve the excommunication some on here desire. He definitely doesn’t warrant being called a cancer and a POS.

He is and will always be remembered for ushering in a large part of our fanbase and bringing glory to our program. I choose to remember him for that. I have too much hate in my heart for those that have run the program down and other folks in the sport, be he, he’s sort of an untouchable for me… but it isn’t blind, it’s a choice…. unless he does something morally egregious, 😝.
Yeah, it’s a little funny how folks pretend like they had Pruitt sniffed out all along. Given the circumstances, Fulmer was given a lot of praise for that Pruitt hire. Didn’t work out. Doesn’t change the fact that Fulmer is a huge part of the program’s rich history.

I won’t fault them for hiring Kiffin. It was a gamble that failed but my goodness it was an exciting time.
