2022 Army game bought out (merged)

It doesn't matter who scheduled it. We should honor the commitment to play a service academy. Plus, how often are these guys who are going to serve our country in the future going to have the opportunity to also play in Neyland Stadium. The administration just took the chance to play in one of the best stadiums in college football away from them. We should be ashamed.
Fulmer was the one that took that away. Fulmer is the one that started the process to replace them, White simply just completed the deal that was already in motion.

And to answer the OP, of course we're scared to play Army! These guys have tanks and weapons! Who wouldn't be besides Navy, Air Force and Memphis

But he did not have to! As of now Army has to find a replacement game for next year so this was obviously a one sided decision. Just don’t look good so if White made the decision I assume he ran it by JH and if he said cancel then we hired a chicken____ coach.

So in other words Michigan and Oklahoma were not afraid to play a Army? Yet Tennessee is and fans are okay canceling a game against one of the service academies. I can see why Michigan and Oklahoma both have a better football program than Tennessee at this time.
If Oklahoma and Michigan played the same conference schedule as we do they wouldn’t be as highly ranked as they are. UT has 3 top 10 teams and the #1 and #2 ranked teams on the schedule right now. It’s most likely Michigan and Oklahoma both would go 0-3 against those same teams.

Have you ever played the game ? You ever been cut blocked or chop blocked ? Kids do not want to play against that technique. It is dirty as hell. And often times against teams that run those offenses do not get penalized. No one in their right mind wants to play against especially if you don't have too.

I thought part of what made college football fun over the years was the different offenses that college football provided. Are you saying that we should only schedule teams that run the same offense? What kind of weak garbage is that. Do you see Notre Dame running away from Navy?

Let's face it. Fans like you are scared of Tennessee playing Army. It's quite sad. No wonder this program has gone downhill.

Wow. Incredible post, but let’s face it though, your fake ass tough guy routine isn’t really impressing anyone or fooling anyone into thinking that you have the slightest idea of what you’re talking about…At all.
And it sure as hell isn’t tricking anyone into thinking that people like me are a part of the problem with our football program, or even could be the problem.

For you guys saying we are scared to play them. ... . We been losing half my life almost. Wtf difference does another one make.. UT isn't winning a championship next season. Anyone realistic knows that. What we do wanna see is what a healthy team looks like when they line uo to play UF and others next season. Playing against an Army or Navy, AF doesn't help us in fact, it presents a real possiblity that we go in with 6 dl and come out with 2. Thats the nature of the offense they run. They are not big enough to block man on man so they cut moving linemen to the ground. It has been discussed that this type blicking be eliminated from the game. To me this type blocking is as dangerous to a players longevity as targeting. It's just stupid to play against this.

Remember Shy Tuttle and how promising he looked until a low cheap ass block basically took his season and most of his aggressive style play ? Yeah let's play a team that is known to block in this manner. Even if it is not oenalized doesn't mean it's not cheap

So don’t play a team that can beat you? I wonder why this game was ever scheduled. Army’s talent even now is so far below ours it don’t matter if they ran a quadruple option we should play and beat them easily. This just looks bad.
And how many times have we lost to teams with less talent than our team in the last 5 years? I'd ask for more than 5 years ago but I think the last 5 years will suffice

Just paid Army $500,000 to cancel the contract and not play next year and replaced them with Akron. Now Army is without a game next year. Any details on any other reason we would have dropped this game?
UT does not need to play any of the service academies EVER.

They run the option and take out knees. It is how they're able to compete. UT doesn't need that at all.

Also if army chop blocks then maybe we should to to help win games. If one team can do it then we should too. I believe we should be doing what ever it takes to win games

Have any idea how stupid it was to play a chip blocking tough as nails team that is running a offensive scheme that we we won’t see any other team we play EVER ? What positive can you think of to play this game?

Wow. Some of you guys actually getting triggered over some of us fans who think we should honor our commitment and play Army.

And from the posts being made its more than obvious there are fans scared to play them. What are you all going to do if Akron comes in and beats us or plays us close?

Dave Hart in all he genius had us playing army the game before UF. Terrible timing to plan for an offense you see once a year. Not to mention the injuries from all the chop blocks. So it was a boneheaded move by Hart to put them in that spot. 1st game of the year sure. Before UF hell no.
