We are in trouble

Cancel the season.

Let’s all hunker down like a bunch of pu**ies and give up after the first game of the season with a brand new coaching staff.

I swear, reading these comments makes it sound like you shouldn’t watch sports at all if you have that “woe is me” attitude.
I agree its gonna get rough for a while anyone already crying should probably stop watching. Its a whole new system with a whole new team running it in key spots. Would a 50-6 game make us all feel better.. Sure. But its gonna be a long ride so we better buckle in and give these guys a chance.

I’ve tried to be positive and still am optimistic. My heart is telling me it’s going to be ok.

But my gut feeling in the second quarter was this is going to be another long year/3 years.

Milton was not asked to do anything on Thursday night that he hadn't been asked to do, at the very least, the previous three years at Michigan if not longer; it was basic DI college QB play that was asked of him.

So you felt worse after Saturday? Man, I was down on our outlook on Friday, but after watching yesterday’s games, I thought our performance was okay. I mean, we did not play good and still won by > 30 points.

SC is beatable, MO is beatable, Vandy is beatable.

KY will be tough, and losses to the big three.

Pitt is likely a loss and no idea on Ole Miss yet—I’ll chalk it as a loss for right now.

That is a 6-6 record. While not where we want to be, about what I expected in year one (or maybe one game better).

There were much better teams that looked really rough (Oklahoma, for instance) whose fans should be concerned….really concerned.

Its gonna take time for him to gel with his recievers. Its not gonna look like bray and hunter in year 3. Sorry man but lets be real.

I gave it a few days to see where our opponents ended up after yesterday, to give my take on what I saw Thursday and where I think we end up at the end of the year

Its not going to be pretty. Our QB play was horrendous. Against one of the worst defenses in Div 1, Milton looked like another mediocre QB at UT. Stayed too long in the pocket, stared down receivers, threw the ball with no touch, and took sacks when he could have ran it for fairly good gains. This won't fly against good competition. No way he is our best passing option at QB. If he isnt going to run, give it to someone who doesnt throw a 100mph, 5 and out.

RBs still don't know how to hit the hole with purpose. Too prone to follow blocks instead of seeing the field and findimg holes. Too slow once they get the ball

Wrs can't run routes to save their life. They also seem slow as molasses.

OL looked decent against a trash defense. They'll get beat like rented mules by an SEC D

Offense is too fast.We arent good enough to run 3 plays in 27 seconds. Too many of those in games and our D will be toast. I know its cute, but its not practical. You have to give your D time to rest, especially against better teams that will pound our D into dust.

Defense is mediocre, except for a few bright spots. Banks will be exposed by better offenses. The Penn State D had its worst D last year under Franklin and since Banks left, it improved greatly in the Wisconsin game. There is a reason that Penn St didn't try harder to retain him.

Good analysis and I agree.
I said nearly the same thing late in the game thread and was chastised. This offensive scheme will stress our defense beyond repair vs any SEC team. (Well maybe not Vandy). To me by adopting the hurry up gimmick scheme we are surrendering any attempt at being successful in the SEC.

Why not ? I am tired of these oh it takes time excuses
Hopefully Milton looks better in the Pitt game. Track record says more of the same. Not going to argue that with anyone. Someone on here today said it might be a kiffin Jonathan Compton type thing. Where as the season goes he gets better. Hoping CJH can fix him as year goes.

Just a suggestion....

Be careful with assessments from a week one round of games. They don't always reflect how a season will play out.

A couple of examples:

Tennessee 2020 first two games

Tennessee 2019 first two games

Tennessee 2017 first two games

its easy to read too much into a couple of early games.
Still going 5-7 though.

Is there anything you like about this TN squad? Not quite sure where you get our RB's aren't hitting holes with purpose, we had 2 100 yards backs on Thursday. I don't care who a team plays still impressive. Our four RB committee avg. 5.1 yds a carry. They played a decent game. Maybe we weren't watching the same game.

Only accurate thing he said was about the QB
