So, what about the reports that CJH thinks Bailey needs a year to develop? Would he not already be fairly well developed if he truly was the best of the three? I don't think you bench your best QB and say he needs development if he is truly your best QB.
That may be the case. That's not the point. I just hope that He hasn't fallen in love with Milton's arm if Bailey is a more accurate passer and can see the field. I don't know if he can. Maybe he can't. But Milton didn't do it last night. Maybe he does next week. Hope so. We'll see.

On a second note about football Philosophy… Chip Kelly’s Run first spread option offense concept came from Tom Osborne when he was dominating at Nebraska being Top 10 in rushing and points per game for 16 straight seasons 1982-1997. Chip just put it in the Gun to modernize it a bit… I think they take down LSU and watch out for the Bruins this season they have the guys for the system
LSU wipes the field with them and Chip Kelly takes a sabbatical to hole up in his NH miser cabin.

I think coaches are human f'n beings that make mistakes, the good ones just learn quickly and move on. Heupel has lusted for Miltons abilities for years and thinks he can "fix" him...he wouldn't be the first good coach waylaid by hubris. That being said, I don't think he will put up with that crappy play for long...

Whatever you think about Bailey, I know this for a fact...he was seeing, and hitting those wide open inside routes in the Spring...period...the same ones blind boy was not seeing all night last night except for the two he threw to Hyatt that were dropped.
It's well documented who you want to be QB. You've not hid your affection for Bailey even once. Milton did not shine last night. I've said he has a lot to improve on. I'm not going to hope he sucks just so we can see Bailey. Until Heupel gives me clear reason to second guess him, I'm gonna trust he knows what he is doing. We, as fans, better hope he knows what he is doing. It's time we finally hit on a coach. We need this to work.

HB is the third stringer…

You sure do hate Bailey. Milton is who he is. He has proven that he has accuracy problems to the tune of a 56.7% completion rate in 141 attempts last year. 47.8% completion rate for the game yesterday. If you are going to discredit Bailey for putting up numbers against "walk-ons" then you must also discredit Milton for having a bad game against a team that did not win a game last year.

I saw nothing from Milton that would lead me to believe that he is going to be a superstar from the game last night. Guys that rocket every throw no matter the distance rarely ever break that tendency in my opinion. Hopefully, the coaching staff can help him improve his accuracy and how he reads what is happening on the field.

I'm hoping that Milton was just trying to show off against this team last night and create some buzz for himself with his arm and that's why he was holding the ball and not throwing to open guys.
He went backyard ball several times waving guys to just keep running toward the other end of the field lol.

I just made it home from Tennessee and wanted to give my opinion…. First off, please drop the narrative that Harrison Bailey is not given a fair shot…. He was beaten out was not the best QB in camp…. Several fans today on sports talk recommended that Bailey transfer bc we won’t play him here…. It’s an absolutely ridiculous notion and we need Bailey to stay here, keep competing and getting better…

I had breakfast with my guy that is at practice…. He says that Joe is by far the best deep ball passer on the team(completing them)…. Thinks he may have been nervous…. Doesn’t hold the ball that long in practice either…..He stated that we didn’t use hardly any of our offense….. have better designed qb runs that we didn’t use…. We plan to get creative with our qbs.

Joe has to play better which may be helped when we open up the playbook some….. find 7-8 plays that he throws really well and use them…. If he struggles with the same issues against Pitt then move onto the next guy…. I’m hopeful Milton plays better after getting his feet under bc it’s our best chance of having a good/great season….. that being said, I’m glad to be 1-0 and look forward to being 2-0 after Pittsburgh.

If Milton is the best we got we are 5-7 or 6-6 at best.

Doesn't change my point..... Hooker's the third best option regardless of his place on the depth chart.
Apparently the coaches disagree. At least for the moment. Maybe something changes, maybe it doesn't. I think it funny though that so many think our coaches are wrong. What does that say about our coaches if they can't recognize the best QB?

I saw a team that didn't quit.
I saw half time adjustments that worked.
We have coaches instead of used car salesmen. I hope to see a lot of improvement next week. I think we will know a lot more about what the team and coaching staff are capable of by then.

1 and 0, 14 to go!

Only our fans could think a hurry up offense is a gimmick…
I bet it was no gimmick when Lane ran it here but it became a gimmick when Gus gave Saban heartburn with it. They just haven’t gotten the memo that Saban’s been using it ever since.

Anyone have any photos or videos of these open WRs from last night?

Couldn't tell anything from the TV view. I want to see how open these guys were.

So if I had to pick on Milton it would be for the following:

Don’t love his footwork and standing still.

He missed throws - over and behind.

He missed reads - even if we were playing vanilla the play was called, the routes were run and the player was open. He was late on a lot of decisions.

He doesn’t make quick decisions. He holds on too long and that will be costly.

He looks a little bit of deer in the headlights.

My fear is he is another practice professional but once the lights come on he tightens up.

We will see. He is our QB1 for the foreseeable future.
He'll learn how to get rid of the ball quickly in SEC games. If he doesn't, we just move on to the next guy. For someone 6' 5" and 245 lbs, he seemed scared to get hit. I saw him get in a crowd and turn his back just before he got hit a bunch of times. I didn't see him lower his head and deliver the hit last night.
