That’s a load of crap. Every kid on a football team (every team, not just UT) has the opportunity to earn the starting spot if they are good enough. It’s simply a matter of significantly outshining every other guy at your position. Not everyone can do that, and it has absolutely nothing to do with kids being lied to or given the wrong impression by coaches. I have no issue with this kid transferring.
I love how Volnation posters just make stuff up. It’s like they think they’re interviewing for a position in the media.
That’s a ridiculous question. If guys weren’t recruited to add depth to a team, then teams would have 24 players - offensive starters, defensive starters, a kicker and a punter. Do I think coaches recruit players with 100% knowledge that the player will never have any chance to be a starter? No. Coaches have nowhere near that level of ability to accurately project players’ ability. Coaching staffs recruit as many players as they can with the highest level of ability they can succesfully recruit, and then they let competition sort things out.So you don’t think there are recruits that are recruited to add depth?
When kids transfer after a year of not getting to play, I don’t blame the kid. I blame whoever lied to them in the recruiting process and told them they were going to compete for a starting spot
Yea, but if you’re that far down the depth chart and you have the self realization that you’re never going to play (maybe at this level), and you want to play, not just stay for scholarship then you gotta goThat’s sad. I wish the kid the best of luck, but it’s kind of sad that we’ve reached a point where if adversity strikes the first move now is to run from it and find a place where you’ll be able to hide from it.
People need to realize that not every player is going to play. Just because he doesn’t play doesn’t mean he’s not a decent player. It just means we have better players at least 3 deep ahead of him. That’s not a bad thingTee Hodge was soundly beaten out in camp by a true freshman who was also a three star.
Maybe it's as simple as he isn't good enough to play. This year or any other year.
Not the same. What if Travis Stephens had said, "I don't want to play behind Jamal", and transferred out. No Gator Killer night in the Swamp. Yeah, kids today need instant gratification.
5th string but still young. People give up too easy
