Maurer emerging as QB1?

And that still has no bearing on getting a concussion the way he did. It wouldn't have mattered if he were 125 or 225. When you get dumped awkwardly on your head... you are likely to get a concussion.
You also can't read. I did not state that his weight caused his concussion

Maurer also forces throws into coverage

He threw 2 picks in team period today. Not saying it won't be him but they say Hooker has been the most consistent.
Were you there today?

How do the WRs look?
The DL?

I wouldn't be surprised if Hooker is the guy. Maurer has to clean up the mistakes or he won't be.

I'm not sure what to think of Bailey at this point. He looks like a smart, game manager type of QB. I haven't seen any "wow" types of physical ability. Is there any word of him doing anything particularly great today?
I believe Bailey is very talented but I don't think he's really separating himself. Seems to have good touch on deep routes but not much zip on short/intermediate. Doesn't mean he can't be successful at it but something I've been watching a little. Maybe he just needs more time to develop. God knows this whole team could use that.

It looks like we will be moving the pocket and throwing on the move more....Bailey just doesn't look comfortable doing so..it effects his accuracy..It'll be Hooker or Maurer...

I just don't see that top end arm strength that would be really helpful in this O.

He isn't a runner. Neither of the videos showed Maurer running but it seems clear that if Hooker is the guy... the QB run will be a weapon.

I think your observation is correct... but not the conclusion. They're probably trying lots of things right now. Each guy will have strengths and weaknesses. Bailey could excel at some other aspect that gives him the edge.

I think it still comes down to decision making.

It is really nice just to have a true competition.....

Too early to tell.

But if it's true that Brian is still turning the ball over, whether bad throws or miscommunication then he won't be out there as the clear starter. Have to see the whole field. The QB needs understand the ball is his to take care of.

Long way to go. All 3 are better than our starter for the past 4 years. We have nowhere to go but up!

Your are spot on....I think at this point I personally expect turnovers...QB and recievers are new to each and have to develop that connection...I also think CJH will put up with ints if the positives outweigh the negatives

Thought it was interesting...knew you would also.
Funny thing is I’ve already proved that wrong. Maurer has been looking good for weeks now and not once have I clicked on someone’s name to say “I told you so”. But ohhhhhh believe me, there are many I could have. It’s enough for me to know that everyone will remember my posts when/if Maurer turns out to be everything I said he was since 2018.

Found out you personally rated Bailey a 3 star. I waited. 😎

It’s going to happen in an offense like this. Fast pace= more plays. More plays= more tds AND turnovers. Nature of the beast.

You were the one I sent the evaluation to back in 2019 were you not? If so, you already knew where I had him.
I couldn’t get through all that Maurer serving garble back then.

Call it what you like but you asked before and I gave my evaluation on Bailey. Seemed like all of VN descended on me for it but I assured you, he wasn’t what most think.

Interesting use of tense. Yours isn’t the final verdict. I’ll wait for the one without the evaluator having a personal stake.

Let’s call a spade a spade Butchna. You don’t “wait”. Otherwise you’d be calling out many more people than me on their “personal stake” involving Bailey. But because you may agree, you don’t say chit when many more people are clamoring for him. Just hours ago Remy all but said “If Bailey isn’t the guy, imma take my ball and go home”. Where were you? Cause you certainly found me.

I believe it's more the release or footwork than arm strength. He doesn't seem to really drive off the back foot but he can still put the ball downfield.

Maybe none of these qb's are the answer and they will have to make do until CJH gets one recruited? 🤷

LSU in 2019 had one of the highest scoring efficiency offenses in the country. They had less turnovers from the previous year yet MORE offensive production across the board. Pruitt was way to conservative...but we don't need Hal Mumme going for it on every 4th down either.

Every time you turn the football over, that is a minimum of 3 points you left on the field and 8 at the most. 3 and outs are bad, but not quite as bad as turnovers because at least you can always punt on 4th down to flip the field.

I don't expect our defense to be causing turnover right and left. So we really need to be efficient on offense. Not sure what caused those turnovers today, but we have seen Brian throw into coverage when he clearly shouldn't have. If we want more of that, then we should have let JG comeback for another year. Having the football is like having money to invest. You don't just risk it at the chance to hit it big all the time. The Investor (QB) needs to understand his ins and out. Projections. Can't live by windfall. Need to respect the possession.

From the short video I saw some good things. He ate the ball on that read option that got blown up. That was the right thing. He extended the play nicely on that redzone TD Coby, even though the pocket was still good. He rolled toward open and less contested field and made an accurate throw on the run-impressive throw.
