I hate to her Fulky is coming back. They force him to play inside where is cannot make it thru a year without constant injuries which limit his effectiveness. In all of his time here has never developed a jump shot. Barnes will use Fulky like a crutch inside and will probably not go sign a good inside player from HS or off the transfer portal.
Good post. I have mixed emotions on Fulkerson. At some point you have to get on with your life but this year was the worst way it could have ended for him. Is he going to be happy playing overseas and making a paycheck above giving it a go for one more year in Knoxville? Will be a tough decision for him but I agree with you, he needs some help in the post and can’t continue to get beat on. Pons did not complement Fulkerson’s game. Fulkerson needs to play the 4 and let someone else bang with the big boys.

Fulk will be 4 if he returns.

Barnes should make tweaks in his recruiting philosophy to prioritize shooters and he and his staff should also play a little more zone in the future.

He passed up a bunch, his 3’s were wide open which is why he shot a great %
Honestly, that’s why we didn’t shoot at a high percentage as a team. We usually weren’t taking good shots. I bet about 1 out of 3 shots were quality looks. If you hit 60% of your quality looks but only 10% of your others that won’t look great even though you might not be a terrible shooting team.

Actually per ShotQuality we ranked #1 in SEC in shot quality

4 of the Top 7 all time commits at Tennessee have been under Barnes watch
Come on man. You know Bernard King and Ernie Grunfeld would have been ranked higher than any player we have ever had if they had rankings back then. Name me one of Barnes top 4 recruits that has played up to their ranking?

Lmao so is argument landing recruits or players who out played their ranking? Seems like 2 different discussions?

Keon Johnson & Jaden Springer both improved their draft stock while on campus, so....

I think Uros will be a completely different player next season. He doesn't play timid. Another off season will help his game.
Doesn't play timid? How many times did he, at 7' tall, receive the ball low in the paint with no skillset to get a shot off?

Essentially open looks
I’d have to look at that more closely but if you watch our guys play they sure don’t look like they take many quality shots. Now, if you come down, never pass the ball and jack up a 3 from 4 feet behind the line that’s not a quality shot but it’s possible this measure says it is. Interesting though for sure.

Referring to the last couple games. He started to find his way. Didnt seem scared. He just needs confidence and more minutes.

How dare you sir! You can't use facts to blow up one of the most asinine takes on VN (the other being CRB is too lazy to recruit)...that is a low blow to the posters who have tirelessly and meticulously crafted and then repeated this narrative over and over.

Yet if you look at that very website, we are one of the lowest in terms of 3 pointers and shots at the rim as a %. Which is what analytics say are the best shots to take.

The stat BTO is peddling takes into account 90 something variables. One is how open you are and another is the likelihood of an offensive rebound. Well we just saw Oregon State let us shoot, so im sure those will be counted as quality looks according to this stat. Also not sure how the likelihood of an offensive rebound, which would account for a missed shot, somehow makes it a better shot but whatever.

The only thing asinine is people acting like our offense isn't a problem.
