To Protect and to Serve II

If anything, I'm empowering the owner to handle the issue. Police don't need to always be involved in these matters.
I agree but at this point in time we have what we have. Not every business can afford to hire security to handle these things. Especially since the last year and the absolute assault on small businesses.

Panhandling... I swear, Daytona must be a real life Gotham City. Good thing we got this goon off the streets.

He's not a panhandler (weak PC, even for Daytona)...he's not an artist...he's not a "street performer"...he is definitely not a musician...and apparently his shtick is not welcome in Daytona. He's a full-grown dumbass who plays bad guitar in his underwear in Times Square, and those window-lickers up in sophisticated NYC think he's something to be proud of. Somehow I'm not surprised.

Down here where we know weirdos when we see one, he's just another idiot that went to Daytona for BikeFest and came home with another line on his criminal record. It's quite common down that way this time of year. Lots of folks do it.

I'm not a big fan of the arrest, but he came to Daytona for attention, and got it. Pay your fine, and stay your stupid butt in NYC, where they pose for photos with you, instead of you posing for a booking photo.

Sometimes, your function in life is to serve as a cautionary warning to others. This is one of those times.

And after the last year or so, they may not have another option but to hire their own security. You're either going to have defund the police actions or cops so ticked off that they refuse to go to certain areas.

6 cops needed for the guitar picker in tighty whities?

You’ve been hung up on this for a while now. It’s the businesses decision to have mask rules. It’s the same as businesses requiring shirts and shoes or any other reason. If they decide they don’t want to serve you, that’s their right. If they ask you to leave and you refuse, you are then trespassing and will be removed. It’s private property rights.
While I hate wearing a mask ..... this is the only reason I wear them..... it’s not my place of business ... but at the same time.... I went to buy some pants today. I picked out a couple of pairs to try on and went to the fitting room and damn it .... it had a table blocking the door with a sign on it .... “fitting room is closed for your protection”..... well.... I just laid the pants on the table and said “f this”..... I guess covid is mugging and hugging in the fitting rooms

It is what it is, but I'm not big on being the "Mask Police". I haven't had a Channel 4 moment yet, but I'm thinking show up; try to mediate it; ask them to leave; then issue the CTW and drive off. If the business calls back, now you go back; warn one more time; then go custodial. That way, if it does go south, you've done all you could to avoid a confrontation. Not my idea of the best or most efficient use of my time, but I rarely get to make that decision anyway, so...

As someone else posted, it's basically the same as the "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" policy that some businesses have. Why do some people have to try to turn it into a David -vs- Goliath showdown? Take your business somewhere else. Rest assured, after you show your ass and (maybe) get arrested, they won't want you back again anyway. It's just ignorant.

Then again, I always said we only catch the stupid ones, so maybe this is where they hone their craft....who knows?

Again, I'm not against private property rights. I'm not sure how what I'm suggesting can be twisted into I'm against these guys having their particular rules.

I'm just saying the time has come to minimize the number of times police are involved in these petty situations. You even said it yourself, "Not my idea of the best or most efficient use of my time..."

Yep.

You should be able to remove people from your property by whatever means you have available to you. Let's see just how strongly you feel about someone not wearing a mask or wearing a red hat or a Confederate flag in your private establishment. Let' see if they are willing to enforce their own rules or if this is really a bunch of petty nonsense that they don't feel strong enough about to get their hands dirty over to resolve.

Put the burden on the property owner that is making the rules and have them responsible for enforcing them... cops are too busy enforcing jaywalking, panhandling and speeding to be bothered with enforcing every homeowners peculiar house rules.

Since we pay taxes which a portion goes to fund police I think they should be available for their number 1 priority. Property owners do not have qualified immunity.

I'm just trying to look out for these poor, overworked police officers and at the same time trying to empower property owners.

How can you be against my reasonable solution?

You haven’t offered a reasonable solution since property owners are not immune from lawsuits.

Their #1 priority? Police have no legal obligation to protect you or your property for that matter. This is been brought up several times already.

I wouldn't be against having property owners get the same protections as police if they are protecting their property.

Again, I'm all for empowering the property owner.
