I've never really understood the idea of diversion in a coaching search. You want to talk about diversions Elliot would be a solid and reasonable diversion. He doesn't excite everyone, but he isn't meh either. Perfect to keep us occupied why DW fights for his big gun confidentially
Maaaaan, how fun is this? We finally fired Pruitt and Fulmer, we then realized we have some serious big time admin in Plowman and Boyd, the younger big money boosters decided to break out the wallets, hired a top 4 AD, we’re about to hire a top tier HC and spring ball is around the corner.
Smiling from ear to ear this morning...
I said it’s great to be a Tennessee Vol!!!
There are proven head coaches and proven Offensive coordinators. Elliot is a proven OC. Maybe our new coach can persuade him to come as our OC.You could say the same thing about your statement. Elliot has had far more opportunities than Chadwell, he just chose to stay at Clemson. You don’t get nfl interviews if you aren’t well regarded just in terms of football.
Bottom line is we wont know and will still remain so until White hires the coach. He said he will hire a sitting head coach and I'm gonna go with that until proven otherwise.I don’t know about disaster... They are two different types of people. One is viewed as an a**and the other is viewed as genuine good person. I think those differences alone make him more likely to succeed then Pruitt. Time will tell though. As it’s been said before there were several can’t miss coaches who have been misses. No matter who it is we won’t know how well the hire is until about year 3-4 depending on sanctions.
Exactly. This needs to be copied and pasted to the AD’s email.
Do you really think White needs our assistance? He just got a salary that will pay him a lot of money because he is considered one of the top 4 or 5 ADs in the country and has been terrific in his hires. He’s built successful athletic departments at Buffalo and UCF. I’m pretty sure he knows what he’s doing.
He is for sure not hiring either one of them IMO. I am convinced it will be somebody we don't want or expect, but it will turn out to be a solid hire...at least I hope. That's how I feel about Kiffin. I can't stand the guy but I can see the excitement that he could generate around all aspects of the football program.
*Unfortunately, I don't think White is going to hire either one them.
Clemson has traditionally recruited about on par with us, so he’s not doing it with Alabama or Georgia talent.I’d take Tony Elliot over Neal Brown. Just can’t believe this AD is willing to risk the Coordinator route again. Elliot has the benefit of coaching the best players in the country in the worst power 5 conference. A luxury he wouldn’t have here. I think he could have success recruiting and his offense would be be decent but is it enough? Idk. I wouldn’t be thrilled but I’d buy into the hype by August’s and park my butt in the stadium like always.....
Don’t care about NFL interviews. We’re not an NFL team with draft picks
I know he’s the hit thing right now but I just can’t get that excited over him. He was a hot name last time too but he reminds me a lot of Jones in that his record is ok but nit spectacular. The buzz is because Iowa state has always sucked but so have their opponents. So to me that boils down to a good coach that still has a lot to prove rather than a home run. UT is a mess playing in a conference that outsiders simply can’t conceptualize until they get here (even Jones spoke to that and his initial skepticism that things were that much different here). But things ARE that much different here and you have to be great elsewhere just to compete here.Campbell threads are going up on vq repeatedly
Probably just teams satisfying the Rooney rule. I pay very little attention to NFL interviewsYou could say the same thing about your statement. Elliot has had far more opportunities than Chadwell, he just chose to stay at Clemson. You don’t get nfl interviews if you aren’t well regarded just in terms of football.
