What did you have for dinner II?

I have two and both are right up your alley (the BBQ place and a country family Burgers meat and 2 sides place) and as long as you bring a responsible adult ( one of your girls) you would be welcome lol! We do have standards you know
They don't let me out in public without supervision😂

founders has excellent line of beers...fair prices ... discovered brandwhile visiting midwest couple years ago.... for years, i was enjoying mainly belgian products
I wish there was a good way to get regional beers shipped. This is my current favorite. It's Highland's Black Mocha Stout.

The Asheville stuff is pretty common in the Tri thankfully. There are even a few good ones here. There is a cider place in Kingsport that is particularly good. Based on Founders and Bells websites, we have them here. I'll have to look for them. Hopefully I can find something other than an IPA. Try as I might, I just can't develop a taste for them and that's 90% of what stores carry in micro brew.

bell's IPA (two-hearted) is one of best around. but many of the rest aren't my cup tea when fall and winter arrive ..... Im in Stl now, and it's lessed with good breweries and wide selection of beers. prices aren't great here, but liquor prices are much more reasonable

I've tried more of them than I can count. At this point I think they're just not my cup of tea. I like most other types of beer. But my favorites are mostly Stouts.

I have a real taste for honey mead too, but that's hard to find. It's easier to get decent saki than mead, which seems odd to me.

I'm moving to Wears Valley in a year or so. Thinking of starting a food truck. I want out of IT, been in it 30 years and burned out. As someone in the food service industry, I would be curious as to what your thoughts are on the prospects for that in the area? It seems the food truck thing hasn't caught on that much in TN yet.

Same. Can't stand IPA's. I am befuddled as to how come they are so popular.

A customer off mine started a Thai food truck business. Did that for a couple of years and recently gave up the truck and moved into a small brick & mortar store in a strip mall. Does pickup & delivery only.
I supply him with signs/business cards/menus/shirts/etc.
The food truck allowed them to get into business without a huge investment until they could save enough $$$ for a store and they are very happy with how it all turned out.
Wish you much success.

That's my long term plan. To eventually move into my own building.

Hahaha well I bought / took over the family restaurant in middle of a pandemic so I don’t know that I’m the guy to give advice. I am happy to but it’s worth what you’re gonna pay for it! You find an outta the way forum on here where people aren’t talking about IPAs (@JCHateSteve hit the nail on the head About the juice spruce and I would add the spruce had been gently smoked under 3 michinlins tires for a day) and I’ll lay some do and don’t on ya from my perspective. I don’t want to clog up Joes great daily dinner dive.

BTW I went from telecom contract negotiations to engineering, to engineering management, to IT consulting 1099, to owning a Small consulting biz which I sold, drove a construction truck and skid steer for a year for a future payment, THEN Decided food service seemed like a good idea. Did all of that between 1989 and approx 2003 So you lasted a lot longer than I did!

It's true that we are overrun with IPAs around here. I can't bear them. I taste acetone or something in there - like fingernail polish remover. This may (or may not) be connected to my intolerance of cilantro. They're debating if it's on the same gene.

I like cilantro. But I don't taste anything like acetone in IPAs. They're just to !@#$ piney for me. My wife has the cilantro aversion. How do you feel about the nori wrap on sushi? She hates it and I don't think it tastes like much of anything. We've wondered if it's related to her anti cilantro gene.

That's a new one on me. I'm not a sushi girl, although I loved saimin back in the day, toxic mercury and all.

Can she survive a trip to an Indian restaurant? The cilantro in the food and the Indian Pale Ale about did me in. I'm collecting Indian recipes in hopes of cooking my own from scratch without the Herb of Death.

edit to add: maybe "piney" is what I'm tasting, although I do still keep flashing on nail polish remover. I love pine trees, but I'm not interested in drinking pine sap.

We don't do Indian or Mexican food out much. We do it at home so we can substitute the cilantro.
