Henry T staying...

Basilio said in his blog that Kiffin would love to come back to Knoxville. I just don’t think Fulmer would ever hire him.
Fulmer is a net negative at this point. Neither Freeze nor Kiffin will be considered. Part of the rationale in keeping Pruitt is to save face for the ridiculous extension and raise Phil offered up. That buyout would be much more manageable otherwise.

So did Dooley deserve more time? We knew. He was given year 3 with 7 new assistants. Fail. Butch reshuffled most of his staff after 2016. Fail.

I can’t speak for anyone else. I want to win. But i have very little confidence he is the man to get us there. No one is expecting a playoff berth. But we are tied for 10th in the SEC since expanding to 14 teams. And our expectations match those results. Truly sad.
Dooley quit. He offered to be bought out after the Ky loss. He should have been allowed to leave. This guy is fighting for one more year. I personally don’t think he has it in him but it’s no where near the same situation.

Makes zero since...like literally Z-E-R-O....why would Henry T be coming back to play for someone else? Why was Pruitt welcoming and fist bumping early enrollees today...?

Well at least you know what a false sense of security looks like now, right? I’ve got two words for you, institutional control. It’s that simple. Pruitt probably hasn’t been told a damn thing yet but it would be pretty easy to fire for cause with just a level 2 violation.

That was a missed opportunity to show some balls. Dooley should’ve had to call his mom to pick him up in Lexington.

My point is that the fans knew when it wasn’t going to work. Just like it was over when Butch crapped the bed in 2016 vs S Car and Vandy. But our brass demanded to be proven wrong. And they were.

They have not learned either.

True. And while the admin thinks they're making the correct 'long term' decision they forget lame duck coaches = 1) recruiting disasters 2) new lame duck assistant coaches with new buyouts to pay 3) further disappointments and disinterest from your gravy train- the fans.

From a roster perspective, things look promising. If you can fire Pruitt with a reduced buyout and put Steele / Ansley in place to run your defense with billy Napier or Hugh Freeze as the head man and leading the offense, Tennessee wins 10 games next year.

I agree. I know I don’t know anything about this situation and nobody else on here does either. I think it’s just what people want or think they want. I believe Fulmer was fired too soon and in the wrong fashion. But it doesn’t seem like he has what it takes to be an effective AD.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Fulmer take the team back over actually.

Cmon, yall. Seriously? Everything that has actually happened points to Pruitts return in 21. THINK. Toto is coming back because Pruitts getting fired? Big Kat's on board because he doesn't know who his coach is going to be? We really do have a desperate fanbase. I get it. But nobody is using any LOGIC on any of these boards. Tony B is just dragging this charade out for clicks and ratings. Lets not be the dumbest fanbase in the country.

Sad. We fire Majors for losing 3 games and now we won’t fire a coach for winning 3.

The inside story i got from a big time booster on Majors is that he thought he was being fired... but it wasn't true. They all had met and agreed to give him another yr. But he was paranoid and angry, got drunk and made a huge scene and blasted major boosters to their faces. His actions got him fired, not his coaching that year. He blamed Fulmer, but he was as much to blame himself.

I am wondering, IF Pruitt is retained, if this season is just a bridge. Meaning, Pruitt is here to keep some stability. I do believe they renegotiated his buyout. I have zero proof of that but it’s just a feeling. But I think Fulmers contract is up next year. So could it be that after this year Fulmer is gone, Pruitt is gone and a new AD is hired and makes a big time hire?

No...not necessarily.
School starts Jan 20. Not sure how the portal works precisely for the 2020 rule, but as HC you needed to make sure your star LB was on Campus before then, just in case you do infact get retained.

However Pruitt himself just spoke with the investigators 2 days ago?
The weekend isn't even up yet.

I'll believe Pruitt is staying when he is leading the team out to Spring Ball.

I've seen coaches fired after Feb signing day too.

I wonder if they are waiting until after NSD to do something?

There are good-natured drunks, and there are a-hole drunks. Over the long run, both eventually underperform, but one is probably going to get let go a lot sooner than the other.
