Jeff Fisher comments on interest in the UT job

Yeah buddy, I assume you are talking about Miles, his recruiting class in 2019 ranked behind Vanderbilt. Of course he has commanding victories over Indians St (without Larry Bird) of course and Western Michigan. But a loss to perennial powerhouse the Ohio Bobcats.

Lol. Again, please explain how Fisher is better than Miles in the collegiate level. Evidence based if you can.

Jeff Fisher isn't getting a SNIFF from the Jets, we're talking the =Jets= here, nor the Jags...... again, the Jacksonville Jaguars are looking at Urban Meyer, ZERO NFL EXPERIENCE, over Fisher with tons of experience.

He's been out of a job for 4 years. Of course he's interested in working, but the worst teams in the NFL aren't interested.

What does this tell you about his reputation as a coach?

JG is no longer with the team. Irrelevant point. Also, pure conjecture. Next.
Jeff has way way way more experience coaching at the highest level and he was not a bad coach by any means. There were plenty of great Titans teams. There was never a disastrous year like this year and you literally cannot handle the QB position worse than how Pruitt did. May not recruit better.

How so? We have proof of the coaches I listed as being able to coach at the collegiate level. Is there any proof that Fisher has? If so, please offer it up.

Football coaching isn't exclusive or different at the college level in regards to concepts and strategies. It's stupid to suggest guys who have never coached in the NFL or guys who failed and fled the NFL can outcoach a guy who won 170+ NFL games, went to the Super Bowl and won multiple division championships.

Hell, Kirby Smart isn't even that great a college coach with a massive talent advantage. The NFL , where big talent gaps don't exist, would skin him alive like it did Saban and Spurrier.

Not really. Your arguments hold no weight. This isn’t the NFL. There isn’t free agency. There is no draft. There is recruiting and that’s a huge part of coaching. And it coaching is different in the NFL and college.

In the NFL, you are right, there is no talent advantage. So your coaching style has to be different. You and some others just don’t seem to get it. Fisher is tied for the most losses in the history of the NFL. Now let’s say we were looking for a HC in college that was tied for the most losses in the modern era? Would you still want him?

And if Fisher came here where he would have to deal with the talent mismatch he would get eaten alive. It works both ways. Fisher sucks and has no business being the HC at TN. Maybe you can answer this. Why would a guy who has coached in the NFL so long, want to come to somewhere where he has zero experience at his age? Why aren’t other NFL teams calling him up for job offers?

So being tied for the most losses in NFL history doesn’t make you a bad coach in any way? Ok then let’s flip it.

Would you want to hire a college football coach who was tied for the most losses in the modern era?

Nope, nope, nope. Tired of Defensive guys, especially ones that were mediocre at best.
He would bring in an offensive guru and hand it over to him, stay out of his way and only offer direction when needed. IMO, it would be a great hire and provide much needed stability in the organizational structure of game day management

Older defensive minded coach. Check.

Barely above .500 in the NFL. Check.

Never coached a down in college football as a HC. Check.

Terrible post season record as a HC. Check.

Never recruited. Check.

Sounds like the absolute perfect fit for good ol Phil.

You sir........

Are correct.

The fact he took a team to the Super Bowl in the NFL is enough. Structure and stability translates easily from the NFL to college.

"Prove it"? Immature and silly

Lol, you say it's immature and silly right after your simplistic logic of "he made a Super Bowl, that's good enough!"

This fan base’s mentality is like a man saying “i should leave my wife and start banging Carrie Underwood, Beyoncé, or Jennifer Aniston” when in reality you can’t even get a smile from the fat chick that’s works at Waffle House....yea it would be AWESOME if we could hire Kiffin, Freeze, Campbell, or Malzahn...but if we fire Pruitt y’all better be ready to accept the fact that we are getting the equivalent of Mrs Scattered and Covered down at the Waffle House

I lived in LA when USC hired Pete Carroll...USC fans were mad...saying similar things. Just saying...it can in fact work.

We have fans who apparently think coaching in the SEC is tougher than the NFL. Keeping an NFL job for 22 seasons is proof he can coach and that he doesn't suck. They apparently don't think an NFL coach could recruit here even though Derek freaking Dooley signed top 25 classes here and Butch Jones signed top 5 classes.

I never said he was. I said I didn't know how he would do here. But it's incredibly stupid to say he sucks and that there's a half dozen better football coaches in the SEC.

Out of all the coaches that he's worse than, one of them has beaten Nick Saban on the field and it's Fisher.
