Late Kick Live “Tennessee in Trouble”

I believe theyŕe tired of the BS too.
If you think about it...Maybe this is why Fulmer fought to keep Pruitt so hard? Because he despises Freeze...
Because he certainly can´t see Pruitt being able to turn anything around.

Fulmer standing by Pruitt is the weirdest part of this entire ordeal honestly.

If you think Tennessee is going to fire Pruitt because of NCAA violations then hire a coach with major NCAA violations a few years removed you're crazy
Freeze acknowledged many times he learned his lesson and that he made some mistakes...I really do not think he'll screw up again...If he is given to chance to bring Tennessee out of this hell we are in I think he would go all out to make UT winners again...Everybody deserves a 2nd chance...I am 100% on board if they make it happen...It would get this fanbase excited again too and god knows we all need it.

I'm completely fine with Freeze. I agree with your argument, I don't think the media would argue the same and seems TN isn't the kind of school to make a bold move like that.
Ya never know.

I'm from Lynchburg Va. Got a friend who works at Liberty in some significant capacity who out of nowhere told me he had talked to an assistant coach who told him Freeze to TN was a done deal and the coach was all upset.

When Kiffin was hired he was the big name splash of the time. And I think he would’ve gotten the program rolling. Might have gotten Tennessee on some probation as well but it’s not cheating if every one of your competitors is doing it too.

Can someone please explain how a guy who never coached a down of college football and was a total failure in a short stint in the NFL was the big time splash at the time? So a proven loser was a bigger splash hire than a proven winner????

If he brings us back to relevance the hookers are on me Hugh!

Yup...
It makes no sense. Other than two possibilities IMO

1) He felt as a proven coach, he himself didnt get a real chance to turn things around and he wants to give Jeremy that shot because thats his first hire as Head Football coach at UT. Imagine that if you are Phil Fulmer, National Champion coach...choosing a guy to carry on your legacy that got ended to early.

2) He hates Hugh Freeze and he will fight tooth and nail to keep pruitt or ANYONE else.

Don’t do this to me. Don’t play with my heart

Sure.

Like I said this gives Freeze a chance to coach kid that he has seen up close. Heś seen his skill-set.
And heś not going to take Malik Willis (Liberty QB)
1) Because heś Libertyś QB and will not take ANYTHING from Liberty.
2) They both have similar ability.

If the Art Briles stuff is legit, than that means Freeze probably went out of his way to make sure the Liberty program was taken care of. Because they took care of him...

So you bring in Hooker, and you have a veteran DT QB you are familiar with. You have a freshman DT QB in Salter that can now learn and not be rushed to play, because you have Hooker and Brian Maurer, a pro-style QB that can also run.

Think about this...why would Hooker want to directly challenge a 5 star QB Bailey, unless he had some assurances that he would play and be involved ,maybe even start?
Not that I totally disagree with you, but, just for the record Bailey wasn’t a 5 star.

Go to Wikipedia and check out his early college coaching career under Pete Carroll. Also didn't hurt he brought along his NFL hall of fame dad to coach the defense.

He isn't that type of person. I didn't think he knew anything about sports. He's not a particular fan of any sports that I know of. He just saw me post something about Hugh Freeze one night and messaged me what he had heard.
We also aren't really close friends. He is about 25 years older than me. He is also very strange. He's oddly connected to things in Lynchburg and I think he's excessively rich. He's also gay....And a conservative.

No point in him lying bout this i dont think. He has no bias. Even if true, still may not mean anything in the end. Things change.

EDIT
Okay to clarify he said Freeze was "very likely" to accept the offer and the assistant coaches weren't happy about it and nor is the school.

Then I said, yeah if we actually offer and he said that we already had. Before libertys bowl game.

if they had just hired Patterson back then......we wouldn’t be in this mess now.

don’t get me wrong......maybe.....by now it
Would be time for him to go......I don’t know. However the situation would have been much different and Tennessee would have been solid.

Josh says, paraphrased. There is trouble in Knoxville. An actual hiring freeze in Tennessee means that the "mess in Tennessee" reflects that the investigations, (not specific on what caused this), creates problems for Pruitt because he cannot replace coaches, nor recruit effectively. You are witnessing the end of Jeremy Pruitt. There will be a time, probably soon, where the Lawyers and Pruitt will sit down and be terminated. If he survives this, he will not have his staff to ensure a success next year. If it does not cost him his employment in 2021, he will have both hands tied behind his back.
"TN right now is a mess. Even if you get rid of Pruitt right now, the violations, if real, remain. Who can they get? My opinion is that even if there are no sanctions hanging over TN, What if they cannot get anyone any better? "I think at this point, TN needs a bridge candidate." Whoever TN brings in will not be here in 2024. A coach to steady the boat. It is not realistic for TN to hire a top coach right now.

Freeze: The tease: If the big hire is actually made now, it has to be Freeze. Art Briles to Liberty if it all comes together. Possible, but wild speculation.

Tom Hermon used as an example as one who would not be fired, but was anyway.

No coach could succeed in JP's shoes currently.

Hopefully much of its baseless bluster. We know a dumpster fire exists but adding this just means the entire dump is on fire. Good grief. 😞

Not really. It makes sense. You hired the guy. You put your stamp of approval on him. You, of all people, should be able to hire a good football coach. And he is not doing well, are you going to stick by YOUR hire, or are you going to turn on him?

Fulmer hired the Alabama defensive coordinator who had never been a head coach before. He hired the red flag ridden, brash, tough to get along with coach. This was his baby.

He is going to ride it out until the decision to let Pruitt go is no longer his. Which, it may be already to that point.

But it's not weird. It's stupid. But it makes perfect sense that Fulmer is going to stick by the most important hire he has made thus far to the bitter end.
