not to mention. Chadwell or Freeze is the exact type of coach that gets the best out of a Brian Maurer

just my opinion.

How does TN hire Freeze after it fires Pruitt for violations? Is that not the definition of hypocrisy? I just don't see TN doing something bold like that. TN is more of the "bend over the table and take it" type.
Well...because Freeze didnt commit said violations. Pruitt did.

He has been punished for Ole Miss already has been in charge of another institution for 2 years.
This is a clean hire, whether you want it or not.

Nothing hypocritical about it.

When Kiffin was hired he was the big name splash of the time. And I think he would’ve gotten the program rolling. Might have gotten Tennessee on some probation as well but it’s not cheating if every one of your competitors is doing it too.

You left out the “getting caught” part.

I'm completely fine with Freeze. I agree with your argument, I don't think the media would argue the same and seems TN isn't the kind of school to make a bold move like that.

I believe theyŕe tired of the BS too.
If you think about it...Maybe this is why Fulmer fought to keep Pruitt so hard? Because he despises Freeze...
Because he certainly can´t see Pruitt being able to turn anything around.

At least Dools was good for a laugh! The man looked like a pro and could sure as heck bump his gums with the best of em.
My wife could care less about sports. At the time we only had 1 tv. So she was forced to watch his press conference with me of him being introduced. And because he said "britches" she approved. At that moment I knew we were in trouble. When someone who knows nothing about football is on board. 😆

Hiring the devil you know?

Lane Kiffin’s departure caused a reflex response. I am convinced our AD hired Derek Dooley for his last name, parted haircut, and southern draw. The dismal leadership has only continued and the current football program is the byproduct.
Actually I remember Muschamp turning us down and recommending Derek Dooley to Hamilton....he must have laughed his ass off after that.

My guy, you shouldn't take that bet.

ONE dude...is actually transferring to Tennessee. Amidst all this turmoil.
WHO would ever do that??? Maybe someone who had some assurances about it.

Hendon Hooker.
The QB who arguably had the best game against Hugh Freeze's defense this season.

That's not coincidence my man. It's not like he doesn't know a Freshman 5 star is already on the roster, and a top DT QB from Texas enrolling early.

I'm not saying he will be starting, but Hugh found a way to get in a situation to coach this kid.

Do you honestly think that's what happened here?

His opinion is that Tennessee made bad hires because they couldn't get any better.

He may be right. Yet our people continue to perpetuate the same behavior that got us here. Waking up each day with this program is like Groundhog Day. Doing the same thing as in 2017. Our own eating our own. I don't think anyone else in the nation does that better.

Yep.
If Freeze runs a clean program like he has been at Liberty then who cares. If the NCAA and SEC put him under a microscope then let them.
His family has forgiven him...proceed to heal everyday more. He’s been showing he can flat out coach like we all know he can. No trouble and you know they are in his ass.
How much does Tennessee want to say...alright let’s get serious about winning again?
There’s the problem. Someone needs to tell Fulmer’s bitch ass to sit this one out...this hire is above his pay grade.

Sure.

Like I said this gives Freeze a chance to coach kid that he has seen up close. Heś seen his skill-set.
And heś not going to take Malik Willis (Liberty QB)
1) Because heś Libertyś QB and will not take ANYTHING from Liberty.
2) They both have similar ability.

If the Art Briles stuff is legit, than that means Freeze probably went out of his way to make sure the Liberty program was taken care of. Because they took care of him...

So you bring in Hooker, and you have a veteran DT QB you are familiar with. You have a freshman DT QB in Salter that can now learn and not be rushed to play, because you have Hooker and Brian Maurer, a pro-style QB that can also run.

Think about this...why would Hooker want to directly challenge a 5 star QB Bailey, unless he had some assurances that he would play and be involved ,maybe even start?

Josh says, paraphrased. There is trouble in Knoxville. An actual hiring freeze in Tennessee means that the "mess in Tennessee" reflects that the investigations, (not specific on what caused this), creates problems for Pruitt because he cannot replace coaches, nor recruit effectively. You are witnessing the end of Jeremy Pruitt. There will be a time, probably soon, where the Lawyers and Pruitt will sit down and be terminated. If he survives this, he will not have his staff to ensure a success next year. If it does not cost him his employment in 2021, he will have both hands tied behind his back.
"TN right now is a mess. Even if you get rid of Pruitt right now, the violations, if real, remain. Who can they get? My opinion is that even if there are no sanctions hanging over TN, What if they cannot get anyone any better? "I think at this point, TN needs a bridge candidate." Whoever TN brings in will not be here in 2024. A coach to steady the boat. It is not realistic for TN to hire a top coach right now.

Freeze: The tease: If the big hire is actually made now, it has to be Freeze. Art Briles to Liberty if it all comes together. Possible, but wild speculation.

Tom Hermon used as an example as one who would not be fired, but was anyway.

No coach could succeed in JP's shoes currently.
It’s just unbelievable how many sh@t show coaching firing/hirings we have to go through. Jeremy Pruitt himself should have been the “bridge candidate” after clown show 3 years ago. We should have been better positioned to move up with a good hire...now we are being told ONCE AGAIN to lower the expectations and be patient.... The UT admin’s incompetence knows no bounds... don’t know how much more of this I can take

I can't fault him for hiring Kiffen. The guy brought in an all-star coaching staff with him.

Most disagree with me but I put more importance on Xs and Os than Jimmy’s and Joe’s.
If you can’t coach the talent is wasted. Kiffin and staff started 2walkons on at Oline (weighed 278# each). Won 7 games. Got a QB that had received death threats to the CFL. Had a 1200 yard rusher and pretty good defense. That is called coaching.

I know you have experience in that world and know how they operate.

Standing on the outside looking in, it would seem that this has been planned for awhile. UT has just been looking for a window to open so they could execute it.
