Late Kick Live “Tennessee in Trouble”

I’m not sure there’s a worst hire than a guy who had a losing record at Louisiana Tech.

Lane Kiffin’s departure caused a reflex response. I am convinced our AD hired Derek Dooley for his last name, parted haircut, and southern draw. The dismal leadership has only continued and the current football program is the byproduct.

His opinion is that Tennessee made bad hires because they couldn't get any better.
That is never true. Even if you are hiring from the discount bin, you can always find a gem, if you are looking in the right place. We have been too fixated on hiring a Saban protege. Mike Hamilton could have had Brian Kelly of Cincinnati in November of 2008. He went with Kiffin. That is a fact. Since 2008, the options haven't been as good, but we still could have done better than we did.

Could of had Leach in 2017.

I agree, but now no one on the level of Kelly would touch us.

Lol you’ll see. This doesn’t have anything to do with NCAA violations. It’s was internal sabotage from his owns staff because he’s an *******.
What are you talking about? Who cares how it was started, it's happening and Tennessee will not hire Freeze. You'll see

As it's been mentioned on VN, Mike Hamilton wanted a coach who would win the podium over a coach who would win games. That's how the Vols wound up with Kiffin and Dooley instead of proven winners like Gary Patterson or Brian Kelly.

Ok, lets understand something.....national media loves to kick a program (almost any program) when its down. And even more so if the majority of its fans get overly reactive to any "national" negative barbs. No matter what happens, we will be laughed at, made fun of, and belittled NO MATTER WHAT choice is made about a new coach. So let's try to understand that and just buck up and get thru this until better times come our way. I don't see any reasonable way we keep Pruitt. I hope the admin. is not tying the search for a new HC to a settlement with Pruitt. If they are, that is very short sided thinking. They sure as hell better be in the back channels vetting interest from 4 or 5 good solid guys. There are realistic choices out there that don't require a massive buy-out and who could work out here very well. Taking a chance on a lesser name? Ok, that is likely, especially given our budget. But I would sure as fire call Jamey Chadwell and let him know we are very interested. He would absolutely bring Grayson McCall with him (and he could start next year if I'm not mistaken due to the one time rule). And much of his staff would already be in place. The potential is huge and at age 43 you could conceivably be getting a generational guy who might be here 10+ years. We would have to be patient as he "learned the SEC" but we could do much much worse. Univ S Car is almost sick that they chose not to go that route, even more so after today and the Bobo/Friend mess with Auburn.

What a mess. You know, I remember walking around Neyland years ago with that feeling of...we’ll probably win the game. There was so much pride and pageantry. I remember waking up on game day, putting on my gear to wear to the stadium excited as hell. Then years later I had the pleasure of being close to the program, standing on the sidelines during games. Hanging in the locker room getting to hang out at the athletic department etc...

If anybody would have told me the next decade would be like this I would have laughed in your faces. So sad.
I remember when I was a teenager it was a huge deal when Tennessee lost a game. It was usually front page news. Now it’s a big deal and front page news when UT wins one. If you would’ve told me then when I was I. High school I would have laughed.

I can't fault him for hiring Kiffen. The guy brought in an all-star coaching staff with him.

When Kiffin was hired he was the big name splash of the time. And I think he would’ve gotten the program rolling. Might have gotten Tennessee on some probation as well but it’s not cheating if every one of your competitors is doing it too.

He’s saying what I’ve been telling some people on this forum for a month. 😂 freeze to Knoxville, briles to liberty. It’s going to be a week late, but some of you who wanted to fight me over it should kick not just rocks but boulders.

I didn't fight with you over wanting Pruitt fired, or for wanting freeze. You made guarantees that didn't happen, and I sincerely doubt we hire freeze
