Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

My son is 10, and relatively recently, he heard McDonough's call in the 98 UT-UF game. He can spot when McDonough is doing a game. For me, he will always be synonymous with that call. I was at the game but have heard the call numerous times.
If you don't know McDonough was on the 'Stumble and Fumble' call, can you even be considered a Vol fan?

VQ guys opened the podcast today saying the administration above Fulmer wants the football program to win, and that people should stop saying they don't care about winning.

Uh, no ****? I don't think the VQ guys understand the point we are making when we say that.

People want all kinds of stuff. I want a million dollars to fall down my chimney. The fact of the matter is the administration wants to win like I want 5 dollars off my next oil change.

It would be cool, but it isn't worth the effort to fill out the form to get the coupon to make it happen.
You don’t change your own oil? What kind of man are you?

“They” as in Butch? He your resource? The offense was more productive under him than Bajakian and there was some semblance of OL effectiveness. Some high scoring and our best games against Bama, UGA and Florida including wins against the two latter. He got mocked for his job title at Michigan when Butch hired him and was our best OC since Cut imo.
All I know is anything is better than what we are seeing now.... our offensive gameplan has looked like garbage.

DeBord was so good, they let him walk and he was replaced with Larry Scott, who last had called plays at Sebring High School in 2004.

I really, really wish I was making that last sentence up out of thin air for hyperbolic effect, but alas I'm not. That's so embarrassing to even type.

I think it was DeBord who wanted out, and he took the Indiana job because he’s from the state. I recall VQ saying he wanted to be closer to family as he had grandkids. He’s taken an OC job in the AAF and an analyst job with Michigan since, but those jobs aren’t nearly as demanding and probably not even full time.

I will always associate DeBord with the pin and pull run scheme that he brought to the offense. It was a thing of beauty when we were executing it.

As bad as it is now, do you really want to hire an up and comer coach and turn around and fire him 3-4 years later? There's not a Rick Barnes waiting to fall in UT's lap right now.
Quit being a mouthpiece for the AD to continue trying to sell us chicken crap! Hugh Freeze isn’t an up and comer. I don’t see Matt Campbell as an up and comer. Pruitt won’t get it done, so let’s go get someone that will get it done.

I still can't fathom how Pruitt doesn't see how his current method is NOT working.

Go get Yurcich or Lebby or Briles, give them ENTIRE control over the offense, 4th down decisions, end of half decisions, practice, etc. Everrrrything.

Pruitt goes all in defense, HC duties. That is a winnable situation. This current crap is not.
And yet, he won’t

This deal has been in the works for quite a while. It'll come in handy when it's time to hire the next guy.

Hiring Freeze has to be within the next month or two. TN will lose way more money by keeping this Dumb Azz Gump for another year. Ticket sales, etc. Plus the 2022 TN in state class is loaded. Cornbread has to go NOW. It’s so F’n simple. All my friends that have season tickets aren’t renewing if Cornbread is back. Cut your losses now. It’s going to get way financially worse for TN to keep him another year. Please pass this along. Thank you for giving us some inside info. Volnation greatly appreciates it.
