Fired after the 2010 season, technically in 2011. Doesn't matter. He wasn't a great OC at Clemson. The "most points in school history" stuff kind of reminds me of Mike DeBord's offense in 2016; didn't we score the most points in school history by virtue of scoring 40-50 points on teams like Kentucky and Vandy? Would anybody here say that Mike DeBord was a good OC?
Not arguing he was great because I don’t really care for Napier that strongly, but he and Dabo were fighting for the interim spot when Bowden stepped down.

I think there were some hurt feelings and Napier was never going to be able to keep that job for a long period of time.

Perhaps, but if he had been a good OC up until that point he would have been picked up for a promotion instead of being fired and going to Alabama for coaching rehab.

Heres why I think that way. Last Sunday on the coaches show, Pruitt made a comment in the 4th quarter that he felt the offense finally found its identity. While its concerning as hell that it took 8 games to find it im interested to see what it looks like these final two games. Imo Pruitt has kept the governor on and forced Chaney into these 21 personnel sets and that's not what he's good at call. Imo we see a lot more trips and 11 personnel these final two games. Imo that gets Chaney back to his spread roots and he is more comfortable calling the offense that way. It also lightens the box up and gives EG more room to work on inside zone.
Who's starting QB?

“Technically” not two whole seasons. 😅 Just ride with your personal opinion. And yes, I thought DeBord was a damn good OC. If we’re riding the qualifier train, he did what he could with Butch’s offense...which contrasted his OL and running game philosophy around 180.

Fine then. We should be hiring a HC that has demonstrated a pattern of success at a P5 school, which Napier hasn't done either.
Outside of Fickell and Campbell, who would your choices be? I really dont think they would come here so say we did throw money at them and they turned it down which direction would you go?

DeBord was so good, they let him walk and he was replaced with Larry Scott, who last had called plays at Sebring High School in 2004.

I really, really wish I was making that last sentence up out of thin air for hyperbolic effect, but alas I'm not. That's so embarrassing to even type.

Chaney's offense requires a solid defense to be successful. He runs a ball control steady churning offense. It's boring but it works...... If you have the personal on offense and defense, we don't.
That just says his offense needs help. That's ridiculous. "I just need an absurd level of talent and excellent field position"...ANY OC would look good with that haha.

As bad as it is now, do you really want to hire an up and comer coach and turn around and fire him 3-4 years later? There's not a Rick Barnes waiting to fall in UT's lap right now.

We are seriously flirting with the longest losing streak in program history, we have one of the worst offenses in all of college football despite having a 5th year senior at QB, and 3 former 5 stars on the OL, and the current recruiting class is hemorrhaging. I think I’d rather take my chances with someone else.

...we've ran 11 personnel something like 85% of the year.

I just laughed at Pruitt's comment if true. "We found our identity" once the other team put their backups in 🤣 just wow Pruitt
