Was literally about to add that. Fulmer and Pruitt get extensions for "turning it around and getting us to .500". Extensions all around only to see it sink in 2022. By that time Freeze is coaching on the plains or in the bayou and we are stuck with the next mid major up and comer.

It is clockwork. This is exactly how it will play out.

How so? They probably see it as we have more revenue coming in, so we have more time to wait since the losses won't be as bad

Napier was a bad OC at Clemson; they made Dabo fire him and he went out and got Chad Morris. He then went into Saban's Coaching Rehab after that - one year at an analyst at Alabama, then a random year as a AHC/QB coach with Mike Bobo at Colorado St, then back with Saban for 3 years as his WR coach.

Disagree. The "Saban Model" with Bama results only works with the complete resources state wide and an ability to bid and win for every recruit you need/want. It also doesn't hurt that the conference head office is a lunch break drive away and filled to the brim with Bama graduates and fans.

In short, the "Saban Model" absolutely works, but you will only get Bama results at Bama. Without the other stuff, it probably comes up short all the way to completely failing the majority of the time. I really don't think even Saban could replicate what he has done at Bama anywhere else.

There is a very, very short list of places where even Saban himself could replicate it. He could only do it at school where 1) he could recruit at the highest level and 2) he either had or could convince an admin to give him everything he wanted.

He could replicate it at a place like Ohio St, Oklahoma, LSU, perhaps Florida. I don't think he could do it at places like Florida St, Texas, Georgia, or Tennessee. Florida St and Georgia wouldn't give him exactly what he wanted and there are too many cooks in the kitchen at Texas and Tennessee.

I find that hard to believe. The year before he was fired, Clemson lost games in which their offense scored 16, 10, 13, and 7 points. They averaged 20 PPG in games against P5 opponents that year. There was a reason they tapped Dabo on the shoulder and told him to fire Napier after that season.

I'm higher on Freeze than Godfrey is (he's an Ole Miss guy and honestly I think there's some sour grapes there). However, he is 100% dead on that if Tennessee thinks what we claim to about ourselves, we gotta go to Campbell and make him say no. Freeze should really be something like a consolation prize in this contest.

I still can't fathom how Pruitt doesn't see how his current method is NOT working.

Go get Yurcich or Lebby or Briles, give them ENTIRE control over the offense, 4th down decisions, end of half decisions, practice, etc. Everrrrything.

Pruitt goes all in defense, HC duties. That is a winnable situation. This current crap is not.

Simple. Reason #1 for keeping Pruitt is that "we can't afford to fire him." Well, there's going to be even more money in the future than there is now.
