Oh I didn’t know the auto came so much later. I always liked the Yamaha engine and actually test drove one back in the day. But I held out for my 96 rag top 4V Cobra. I’ve still got it.The one I linked to is an automatic 1995 model. I just looked it up, and Ford added the auto option (manual still std) in 1993. The Yamaha V6 engine increased from 3.0 liters to 3.2 that same year. Same horsepower, but 15 more ft./lbs. torque.
Speaking of hot foxes, would that SHO fill the bill for you. Are you bidding?

I test drove an SHO when they first came out, maybe 1989, and came close to buying one. I think it was around $18-19,000. It was a non-metallic burgundy or maroon color.Oh I didn’t know the auto came so much later. I always liked the Yamaha engine and actually test drove one back in the day. Yep. I have read a lot about people having to weld camshafts for those little V8's. I would prefer an early manual 6 cylinder myself. One of the sweetest engines ever. I have driven front wheel drive cars that had better shifters and clutch takeup though. Are you sure? (Of course you are...) I always thought it was the 302HO. But again I was more of a fan of the V6 engine.
It was a fairly sweet driving car I thought and the torque steer wasn’t that bad. Remember the old Chrysler Turbos? Torque steer from hell. Through the groin?? Good Lord .... the things we humans have to go through just to live life.
I bought a new Dodge Daytona Turbo in 84 or 85, and a new Shelby GLH-S in 86, I think. The Shelby was a Dodge Omni, titled as a Shelby (no mention of Dodge on the car or title. It was a 2.2 liter turbo with an intercooler, Koni shocks, special suspension, and was limited to 500 cars, and all had sequential dash numbers. The torque steer was brutal in a 2300 pound car. Luckily, it dove toward the sidewalk , off to your left, instead of into coming traffic. It was a fairly sweet driving car I thought and the torque steer wasn’t that bad. Yep that was the engine! Amazing power for that era but the torque steer was a complete turnoff. I remember that little Omni body Shelby. Fierce compact for the era for sure. I was looking at the Daytona. The ex’s dad had a ragtop K car that had the same engine package... and same torque steer from hell.I bought a new Dodge Daytona Turbo in 84 or 85, and a new Shelby GLH-S in 86, I think.
