Why dont fans support this program no matter how bad the times get?

Love my Vols but tired of hearing wait till next year, we are a young team..etc..

Ditto that. All teams are "young." That is, a new class is signed EVERY YEAR. The difference with this staff is that while many coaches play young guys to give them experience, Pruitt is doing such a poor job of developing talent that second and third year guys are still unprepared, and he is throwing in freshmen because he has no one left. That is especially true except at the QB position, where this head coach lives in an alternate universe.

I'll just repeat what I said in numerous arguments with k-town and Pulaski before the season. UT needs MUCH better QB play than they got from anyone in the 3 years prior to this year... and I really don't care who it comes from. I didn't think it would come from JG at that point. I think most people are convinced it won't come from him now.
With a really good QB, we're 5-2

I believe you are right. There are no good reasons this roster doesn't beat Ark and UK. UT's D held UK to under 300 total yards... and still lost by 27 points. But they were able to key on the run because the pass game was totally ineffective with JG. No way 24 points by Ark should beat UT. But again, a "decent" day running the ball was paired with a terrible day in the passing game from JG and everyone else.

Why do so many fans have to be fair weather fans and only support a program when they are winning? I think if you are a VFL you will support this team and program no matter how many games they win.
Please don’t pretend to not realize the slow burn that has been Tennessee football for the last 16 years. The fact that we haven’t just become a complete afterthought amongst our fans is remarkable. There is an entire generation of fans that have never consciously witnessed us play for an SEC title.

Once again, I don't mind folks upset and even complaining a bit, hell I'm upset and complain a bunch. Anything done in excess often goes bad and this forum is whining, crying and moaning in excess. As for my standard it's no different than yours on here, I pick and choose when I want to get involved.
You thought what JG had done and was capable of doing was "good enough". Our standards are quite different. I don't think it is acceptable for a HC to stick with a strategy that has failed. You apparently think losing is OK if the "strategy" is to get from a failed RS Sr to a true Fr who may or may not live up to his hype.

Your whining, crying, and moaning was just as bad as anyone else's... but you think it is OK because you are defending YOUR point of view.

You do "mind" though. I was "upset" (dissatisfied) with QB play for the last 3 years. I was "upset" with the insanity of continuing to do the same thing and expecting a different result at the QB position. I was "upset" that Pruitt refused to see some pretty obvious deficiencies in his QB and move on. You indeed condemned me for being "upset".

Then f'ing just quit em. Today's society of panty waste loves to be a quitter so just quit them. You acting like your emotional investment means something, lol.

Emotional investment absolutely means something! Emotional investment comes from a fan who cares, probably too much. When you're so excited for Saturday's game that you can barely sleep the night before, that's emotional investment. When watching the game, you get so angry that you shout at the TV to the top of your lungs and cannot stop pacing the floor, that's emotional investment. When your team pulls off a miracle play at the end to win the game and you jump out of your chair, spill your drink and high five everybody in the room while cheering to the top of your lungs, that's emotional investment! You damn well better believe that that emotional investment means something! And when you have spent 12 years going through what this fanbase has gone through where the vast majority of emotional investment has been disappointment, it takes a heavy toll over time. I absolutely do not blame ANYBODY at this point for walking away after the last 12 years.

Get your head out of the sand. Maybe you will see what is really going on.
Enlighten me please! I thought this was a message board where fans share grips and grievances while having some fun as well. I want to see TN competitive again and unfortunately, CJP just isn't a very good HC. He is probably a fine guy but his team don't play hard because they aren't held to a standard that requires it. Playing for TN should be a privilege for these young men and they will rise to the level of performance demanded of them by the HC.

"panty waist" means "sissy-boy"
"panty waste" means "sissy-boy messed his pants"

Just a little clarity

You will literally accept anything just because, you don't ****ing care about the state of the program but only your feeling of moral superiority that you have for some stupid reason. We actually care that we suck and want to see something done about it.

well after15 years............

There aren't Negavols and Sunshine Pumpers now. There are Realiteers who deal in the reality of the program and aren't afraid to admit it, and Coach Worshippers who think everything is hunky dory and playing JG each week was a good thing. To the coach worshipper the head coach has a short hand, he needs more time, he is dealing with covid, mean fans, no way to recruit to Tennessee etc. It's a never ending string of bogus excuses. Why didn't they adjust in the second half? Apparently the staff logged onto VN and Twitter at halftime and were too busy being emotional over what fans were saying to realize that the other coach was making adjustments based on play in the first half.

Some see the crap the staff has flung on the wall, some see the crap but choose to see it as a work of art rather than deal in stinky reality.

I think we do support the team. We're definitely fighting for our team.
Now that's the spirit. You gotta go out there and be a true fan no matter win or lose. You gotta be proud of the team no matter how they play in each and every game.

Good Grief. I assume you're trolling, but just in case:

A lot of us are VFLs, but the complete and utter incompetence of the admin over the last 15 years has robbed the sport of the fun. And in the end, it's gotta be fun to be a fan, at least a majority of the time. You can have fun even in a loss, if its a good game and your team is playing well.

Tennessee has become a drudgery to watch, especially with Slingblade Skoalcan and his infatuation with JG. We all have jobs, responsibilities, a lot of things we HAVE to do. Tennessee football isn't a HAVE to do, it should be a WANT to do.

So, don't play the "I'm a Better Fan" BS card. No one buys that here. We are all fans, its just that most of us demand that our team and admin care at least as much as we do. Ideally, they care much more. That hasn't seemed to be the case for quite awhile.
Said it better than I ever could Hoss. Agree 100%

Long time Vol fans are extremely exhausted. Last major bowl game after 2001. last win against top ten team approximately 35 games back.. That is a very limited amount of fair weather. Last Alabama win 2006. I won't even mention the record with Georgia and Florida.....That is a great number of rainy days for long term Tennessee fans.. Not to mention Vandy's Mason record against Teneessee was 3 wins 3 losses......
