Why dont fans support this program no matter how bad the times get?

I've got a friend I graduated high school with who is a huge Alabama fan and despises TN. He is a member of the VN forum for years, posts under a Vols moniker and is only on here to push buttons and antagonize Vol fans. He gets a kick out of it and he's the reason I feel many of our NegaVol fans aren't really Vol fans here on VN. I'd let you know who he is but he won't tell me the name he goes by here. Coincidentally he knew Coach Pruitt back in his days at MTSU and played a bunch of pick up basketball with him at the time. Said Pruitt was always looking to pick a fight back then.
With sources like that you should get a job at CNN.

Nobody believes you.

OP, brother, try to understand the other person's perspective...

When you're appendix is inflamed which option supports your health: Letting it rupture, or having it removed?

Removing the inflamed appendix IS supporting your health.

Understanding another person's perspective is not the problem here. Having it constant shoved up your ass is the issue most people have. Some people come to the board for real conversation about what's going on with the program. Yet, in every thread, no matter the topic, we get the same crowd of 12-year-old-girls who have to say something "witty" about how bad our program/coach is. It offers nothing to the conversation, and it's tired.

Maybe a "real-fans" forum is needed.

There is no doubt that the NegaVols are not Tennessee fan. Their only goal is to get their as many people as they can to respond to their posts to make them look important when they really look like deserters in the army. If I had one of them work for me, they would not last very long. One could not rely on them to be loyal to your or my business.
These clowns who run UT University and athletic department wouldn’t last very long in our uniformed services. They are results oriented and don’t tolerate failure. To compare fans who are vocal about their dissatisfaction with a sh-t show masquerading as playing football to deserters is asinine.

Why do so many fans have to be fair weather fans and only support a program when they are winning? I think if you are a VFL you will support this team and program no matter how many games they win.
This guy deserves a blanket party.

You sir are an idiot. These clowns who run UT University and athletic department wouldn’t last very long in our uniformed services. They are results oriented and don’t tolerate failure. Get your head out of the sand. Maybe you will see what is really going on.

If you're business is heading in the same direction as UT football, any employee with drive and an IQ above room temperature won't need to be fired, they'd have already found a job with a successful company.
My business is doing very well. Thank you

Some of us do. I am a Vol for life. We suck right now and have for the last decade. I despise Fla, Bama and Ga. The only criticism I can add to the we are not good right now is that we are brutal to watch. I miss the days when even in losing we were entertaining. We need to be great at something, an identity. Anyone remember ember the Orange Crunch defense from a long time ago? We just need to build 1 aspect that is great and then build from that, defense or offense or special team, doesnt matter.. Something we can praise and count on. Anyone remember Fuad Reveiz, a weapon from almost anywhere? We need something.

When the shoe fits, you wear it.
You obviously don't understand that this is a message board and we are not soldiers. As I have stated, you've hit rock bottom by comparing anything associated with Tennessee football with army deserters. if you don't realize how ludicrous that is, I can't help you.

WTF is wrong with you ? Fans complain coz they care. So you want us to just sit back and relax even when we are going 3-7 losing to KY and Arky ?

So, let me understand, you want to have a discussion with other fans, but only if you can control what they say and then call them names if you don't like it?

Nope, I only do that with individuals who don't make any attempt at an argument/debate/conversation. They're just whining.

There are plenty of examples of me having a totally normal conversation with people who disagree with me.

Negativity is not Tennessee's enemy off-the-field, Noggin. That honor belongs to apathy.

In a college football marketplace where kids get to witness the exploits of any team they want to watch on a per-game basis, how many of our children and grandchildren are going to continue on our path supporting a program that has been habitually mediocre for all but a few years over the last generation?

We should count ourselves fortunate people still care enough to complain and voice their frustration. If this continues for another generation, then apathy will replace criticism and Tennessee football will be seen in the same respect as a Pitt is right now in their local and regional area: not worth the trouble.

Do you'll keep driving a car that keeps breaking down? Sometimes you have to trade off for the betterment of your health. I support the Vols brand but just like a car breaking down I trade it in for something better. Its about time to trade this lemon in.

My issue is not the opinions expressed but the hate that a lot of the opinions are expressed with - things said hiding behind a keyboard that would never be said in real life.

Well lets see, we have just witnessed more than a decade of mediocrity. It feels as if the wind has been let out of the sails and there is no fixing this. Pruitt and Fulmer can't right this ship. It is going to take a home run hire to fix what is wrong on rocky top. I am no fair weather fan, i am just pissed of at the status of the Vols football program.
