You people are so alarmingly brain dead. What evidence is there that Peyton would be a great coach even if he wanted to. He was a generational QB, that DOES NOT ensure he would be a wunderkind as a head coach. It would just hinder or even obliterate his legacy if he did not succeed. Even being a proven championship coordinator doesn’t guarantee success.
Bama and Georgia were not what they are now, Florida was the only game that mattered. Not to mention Tennessee gets rocked every single time he shows up, and now he has a restaurant/hotel on the strip to further curse the Vols.39-6 career record at UT, never lost to Georgia, and the only QB in UT history to beat Bama 3 times.
I guess some people can never be satisfied.

This Alabama team would run every 90s Florida/Vols team off the fieldMakes sense - so when we compare the greatest Vols who ever played we need to make sure to discount their accomplishments because perhaps they did not play against the greatest SEC competition teams of all time (it's Peyton's fault that Bama and UGA did not happen to have those teams available to make sure he never wins to support your narrative).
How about considering the opposite - would Saban's best teams actually have a winning record against our best teams from the 90's? I highly doubt it - I'm pretty sure most of our teams from the 90's would have beaten that same Alabama team that looked so invincible on Saturday (and Spurrier's Gators would have spanked them as well).

Peyton Manning bleeds orange. He’s still a guy that kids playing now/recruits watched growing up.
There’s no way Peyton is not thinking about getting involved watching his beloved Alma mater flounder the way we have been.
I know Scott Frost at Nebraska and Harbaugh at Michigan haven’t been immediate successes—but I am very confident both of those men are going to get their Alma maters back to where they should be.
I think Michigan might win the Big Ten this year. And I think Frost is going to have Nebraska competitive in the next 2-3 years.
Peyton is a football genius. He’s known for knowing what is going to happen before anyone else on the field did. He is a gamer/strategist on the field, and I believe that will translate to coaching success.
He’s got the charisma and the ability to bring in elite staff.
Now is the time to start seriously considering getting Peyton in orange as the face of this program.
I think he will end up restoring Tennessee football and making us elite again.

Thanks JP you are as always a voice of reason.1. We don't need a new head coach. We have one. Impatience of some in the fan base, be damned.
2. Peyton will never coach college football. He's pretty much said that, more than once. He loves the Volunteer nation too much to ever risk them hating him. And yes, he has said that, too.
So other than those two points, great idea, OP.
But when he did play him in the biggest games, aka playoff games, guess who came out on top more often? Not Brady, it was manning. The butthurt is oozing from you![]()
More chance of getting Gruden when he's fired in Vegas.

Our program is on life support right now. We don’t need a legendary alum with zero head coaching experience. We need a proven HC. I love Peyton, but I doubt he would touch this dumpster fire with a ten foot pole. And I don’t blame him
