Pruitt saying FU to the fans. He is going to hear it right back. He needs to realize that when the fans check out, you are out the door. I’m going to find better ways to enjoy my Saturdays. Embrace 3-4 wins because it’s coming.
Tbf, and this isn't specific to this situation, just in general, I don't think a coach should feel beholden to the fans when it comes to coaching decisions. The coach is hired to make the best decisions he knows how, not to make the most popular ones.

He may not be right, but I wouldn't want a coach so sackless as to sway with the whims of the fans either.

I also think he's being cordial here and we'll see someone else by Arkansas. Not sure bout Bama...may not want to kill anyone else's spirit.

That was a one year turn around with a guy who was an absolute emotional basket case. JG to his tremendous credit has never seemed to buckle under the criticism. He apparently got threats too... which is so insane I struggle to believe anyone is that stupid.

Crompton's problems were the turmoil in the program and his own collapse the previous year. They weren't related to a physical/mental talent needed to play the position.

JG's issue seems to be an innate inability to process reads quickly and anticipate plays. It has been a problem his whole college career but has manifested itself in different ways. Previously the sacks and beatings he took were because he couldn't pull the trigger. His habit of giving up on plays and checking down related to him seeing things too late.

Chaney DID push him. That's why the INT's went up... and the TD's. But he really seems to have hit his ceiling.
Thanks to @Unconditional Surrender for reminding me of this post.... from April.

VQ 2 min drill saying JG not just starting this year, but he is the starter from now on. AP said he talked to multiple staff members and they all said the same thing. Apparently practice is all that matters, not in game performance. Even tho Mizzou could find a QB, even tho Dobbs was a gamer, practice Peyton gonna keep his job in spite of his actual game play
Wtf?

Pruitt has been talking to Butch about how sweet it is to get paid and have no responsibility.

I dont understand. If Pruitt wants to push the other QB's aren't ready narrative this year then it sucks but whatever. But there is 0 reason they can't have someone ready by next August. Thats just dumb
I don’t know man. It’s mind boggling.

I wanted tee to be coach three years ago and I hope he gets the job when the time inevitably comes. He loves this place and will give full effort to get us back to where we all want to be. Pruitt just doesn’t seem to care. He’s more worried about poor little JG

Better idea.... each get an equal amount of drives against Bama all game long. Bailey needs to play with the 1s when it counts.

Just saying that I don't think Pruitt is dedicated to JG specifically, but he is dedicated to playing the guy who practices best. In general that's a great policy. You wanna play? Practice well. If HB is the truth, eventually that will show in practice.

It's not just fans. The analysts who are usually fairly conservative on bashing individual players called out JG. The team literally quit Saturday.

Doesn't make any sense to officially promote him at this current time. He'd count against the coaches limitwithout the benefit of being able to help recruit due to the COVID rules impacting recruiting. To do so would essentially ensure a shakeup of coaches in the offseason, which I believe will happen anyway, but I don't think Pruitt will invite that speculation at this time. Long can continue to provide input in his current capacity.

I'm more intrigued to see how the coaching staff shakes out in the off season. Which will depend a ton on how the rest of the season unfolds. My hope is that the current open position is the only one we're in need of filling. That will mean the team got its act together and played decent football the rest of the way.
With Brumbaugh’s firing and Pruitt filling that spot? We have an open.

This is the second time Pruitt has hired someone he immediately dislikes. Why?

I mean, it’s one thing to hire someone you don’t like because you think they will get results. But what’s the point if you end up firing them within a year because you don’t get along with them?

Do you think Saban liked Kiffin? I don’t, but thought he brought something to the table.

I think its very telling how no one consoles JG when he makes a mistake. The team is done with him, idk how Pruitt doesn't see it.
I noticed that Saturday, as well. The team has had enough. Til they stand up & say that, I don’t see how JP will start with anyone else

So does anyone have a real list of DL coaching candidates? Obviously this may not be the final coaching shuffle of the season or off season but who are some names that we’d be happy with? Obviously I think Pruitt wants a recruiter.
