If Chip Long steps in on offense can they actually co exist. Seems like a lot of ego there with the money Chaney was given

Doesn't make any sense to officially promote him at this current time. He'd count against the coaches limit without the benefit of being able to help recruit due to the COVID rules impacting recruiting. To do so would essentially ensure a shakeup of coaches in the offseason, which I believe will happen anyway, but I don't think Pruitt will invite that speculation at this time. Long can continue to provide input in his current capacity.

I'm more intrigued to see how the coaching staff shakes out in the off season. Which will depend a ton on how the rest of the season unfolds. My hope is that the current open position is the only one we're in need of filling. That will mean the team got its act together and played decent football the rest of the way.

In the last 10-12 years the only thing consistent with TN has been that one side of the ball has been better than the other. We either had a good defense and a bad offense or a bad defense and a good offense. We have come close to having bad in both but never good in both. I just hope we see progress from the offense as I think the defense can be good this year and next.

And I doubt you are even thinking about the biggest ego of all in terms of coaches

That’s Pruitt. After his comments Saturday after the game it’s clear he is going to be very involved with play calling and that isn’t good imo
I'm not against Pruitt stepping in as long as he doesn't try to do too much. I was a fan of the Chaney hire and I still think he's a good OC. But he does get pass happy and as long as Pruitt keeps Chaney in chek better in thay regards im all in if it's more than that then I question it. Imo Pruitt is still learning how to be a HC and I think he's figured out he needs to have more say in the offense and he can't just be hands off as he hoped

Yeah thats true. Forgot about coaches not being able to go on the road. I do agree there will be staff changes after the season as well. We are in a mess and a half right know is the one thing I can say with a guarantee. Everything else is all specualtion

I think we saw Pruitt step in Saturday and essential force Chaney to give up on winning the game. Obviously we needed to run the ball but we really never even tried to throw anymore and get back into the game.

Let's see. JG threw 2 awful picks and Shrout picked the most covered reciever on the field and threw at him. What exactly gives you confidence we could've done anything passing the ball? I don't think it was giving up its all we could do.

Like I said we needed to run the ball but we had to get back into somewhat of an aggressive style play calling to have any chance. We never did that. It was clearly giving up on trying to win the game imo.

Now sure things could have been worse if we threw it around the yard but what it seemed to me they were just trying not to get beat worse instead of making any attempt at a comeback

And no I didn’t have any confidence in getting back into the game either way but I think you had to try if you didn’t want your team to clearly see you were throwing in the towel

Sounds like JG still the starter. Ride or die. Pruitt choosing to die it appears

It’s so weird. I’ve never seen a staff do this so much. Reminds me of the cross training stuff clawson tried to do. Put a guy somewhere and let him develop.
Prioritizing short term cover over long term development. It’s why everyone looks confused all the damn time.

And again I ask what QB do you trust to do that?

I have to say Mcgill - maybe it was your trip and seeing all that beautiful nature - but you are just a regular ole pill of sunshine and calm these days like I've never seen. Whatever good mojo you have going on, pass it around...and don't let go of it.
I am not a hypocrite...I was just as mad and sick as everybody else Saturday..but like I said, I usually calm down after adding context. Pruitt may not be a championship coach, but he sure as hell ain't a football retard like Botch and Doofus. Way too many knowledgeable football people say that about Pruitt, for him to be a football moron.

Our enemies are using our own anger and discord against us right now...bet that.

We need him to be Johnny Majors and I believe with all my heart he can. I don't know if he can be Fulmer or not, but I will wait a few years and find out.

For all the bitching about the defense...I cannot forget this..we were among the absolute worst defenses in all of CFB several times before he got here, and he is doing it with a bunch of guys that were not highly rated for playing defense in HS.

IIRC we were south of 115th in defense the year before Pruitt.

You are missing the point.

One way was giving up and the other was trying like hell to find a way to get back into it. Both likely ends up with a loss but imo you had to show a message to your team you were trying to get back into the game even if losing worse was more likely

VQ 2 min drill saying JG not just starting this year, but he is the starter from now on. AP said he talked to multiple staff members and they all said the same thing. Apparently practice is all that matters, not in game performance. Even tho Mizzou could find a QB, even tho Dobbs was a gamer, practice Peyton gonna keep his job in spite of his actual game play
