I understand they do keep bad officers in place but the reason they oppose community oversight is perfectly illustrated by the cities where police are currently being hamstrung. Politicizing police oversight is a bad idea and those community oversight boards are nothing but political and are easily weaponized. There are more effective ways of reaching the desired result.
Elect an oversight commissioner. They handle all complaints. Present their findings to a “grand jury” type panel of citizens to determine if any further action is needed
