Elect an oversight commissioner. They handle all complaints. Present their findings to a “grand jury” type panel of citizens to determine if any further action is needed

Maybe police should leave cities like those. Let them fall apart. Keeping the criminal cops from losing their jobs is criminal. The bad police have to be kept from ever being re-hired in law enforcement. Once that starts happening, I think you’d see way more support from civilians.

I'd like to think that would be true but from what I've seen recently we're beyond that event horizon.

Possibly. It is hard to believe that our country recovers from what it’s currently going through. We are just too divided on too many fronts that I just don’t see any peaceful resolution.

I'm not sure about that, there was still some civility from the vast majority. And while not everyone is on the fringes the fringes are vastly more pronounced now as opposed to then with few voices with any semblance of power speaking out for calm and reconciliation.
