Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I heard on the radio that NYC parents were at 75% saying to go back. I haven’t seen a poll on it myself but that shocked me. It was probably 2-3 weeks ago and had something like 400,000 responses. I figured 75% would say not to up there.
The chances of dying from corona at school are much less than the chances of dying from annoying your parents at home for the next nine months.

Estrada, 46, said Scavetta then launched into an expletive-laced tirade before aiming the handgun at his head and threatening to shoot, sheriff officials said.

“I’ll kill you,” Scavetta told Estrada, according to the report.
Can’t the guy take a joke? Snowflake.

I figure that will likely be changed to 10 and 9, but that still wouldn't reflect absolute reality, just were the curve drops exponentially, I'm guessing.
Didn’t I hear Baltimore is requiring everyone over 2 to wear a mask? If true, what the hell is that based on? Knox County should at least let the schools follow the county guidelines. I do believe they’re planning on social distancing in the classrooms. It seems like they are pushing for a good chunk of kids to do online learning so they can spread the in-class kids out better. We shall see. All I know is my autistic son needs to be in-person and will not wear a mask. None of the kids in his class will given their sensory issues.

Just when you thought 2020 couldn't get any suckier, I got the receipt from the funeral home for my mother's funeral the same day I wrote a check to pay for my father in law's burial and in between those 2 our pet cat of 6+ years died
Sorry about the loss of your cat man. That’s horrible!

A drive by of Bearden Beer Market (outdoor bar) on a Friday night and the place is packed. I wouldnt call that crowd a bunch of "Trumpsters". Like I've said, a lot of people are done with this and are taking the data as they should.
Great place. I really wish it had been there when I was in school. Then again, Dave was a huge help for some underage kids so I can’t complain.

Agreed. I thought all of it was blown way out of proportion (most of it is) until today. Is it very dangerous for the older population? Yes. Is it very dangerous for the younger population? No, 100 times. The thing is, is the husband and wife said that they hadn’t gone anywhere in the last 2 weeks, not even church. Their kids brought them groceries and the kids have been fine (both tested negative today as well). It’s honestly looking like it’s completely random and something your not gonna escape.
I shared a story on here of Duke’s football team where 2 tested positive on a Sunday and then by Friday they had 15 positive. In between they did everything they could wearing masks when around others, social distancing, and they could only leave their rooms to eat or work out. You know those coaches were not letting those kids half ass the precautions and it didn’t matter.

You haven't seen me insist that anyone wear a mask, but I've seen many on here repetitively claim that they are worthless. As if that is a good excuse to not do so.
Masks don’t stop the virus from spreading. I won’t say they don’t do anything but it isn’t much. Between masks and social distancing I’d saying distancing is more effective and that masks are more to provide peace of mind to people than to actually stop the spread.

Well, I would just say there are instances where a mask would prevent fluids from landing on another person, yourself or a surface. And in those instances would effectively eliminate that particular opportunity to be spread. I mean, it's definitely quantifiable.

Exactly. I was just discussing this with an administrator at our local children's hospital. He said the number of positive results in asymptomatic kids (including pre-op testing) has risen dramatically.

I don't know what the number is now, but the other day the U.S. was running over 800,000 tests a day. You're going to catch a whole lot of asymptomatic/minimally-symptomatic cases that way. That's why I believe deaths and hospitalizations are better metrics.
