Systemic Racism

Seems like they might be their own worst enemy and that something needs to give to break the cycle.
And I assure you people are trying but there is no quick fix. But you can't expect everyone to immediately live up to one standard. The way I grew up is much different than many of the people we work with today. Same for my kids

If a group of children are raised with no structure and no accountability within their homes, then what you end up creating is a generation of criminals and strippers. In the black community (and ever growing in the white community), you are have incentives to break up the family and remove structure and order in the home.
So true. No matter how smart we try to be, Every change in tax and entitlement policy creates a behavioral reaction. We’re like rats in an economic maze.

That's capitalism.

Helping the economically disadvantaged starts with the schools not the .gov mandating wages.
It starts with parents being home and taking a active approach in their childhood. Problem is that the moms are working two jobs to make ends meet. Busing has caused kids to go to schools miles away from their homes, mom can’t make it either because of work or because the cost of traveling across the city.

Capitalism has its merits, but it’s also one of the main causes of the issues at hand. It’s a system set up to help the wealthiest and hurt the poorest.

I am also curious as to why this "systematic racism" doesn't affect Asians, Hispanics, Middle-Eastern races the same ways
BTW, none of the other groups you mentioned above needed 3 constitutional amendments to secure their rights in this country. And even with that, it still took over a century to get it right. Unfortunately, Jim Crow was replaced with a more destructive political agenda in the 1960s.

And what kind of policies are about to be generated from the current mess? I think you know.

Examples that are well documented?

racism in hiring practices (this is already illegal)
racism in housing (this is illegal)
racism in home loan programs (this is illegal but more of a poverty issue than a race issue imo)
racism in school discipline (this is BS, people who commit more serious issues regardless of race get disciplined more harshly. This is a lack of parenting issue)
racism in the judicial system ( this is very debatable)

I work in finance, and there are a slew of laws that prevent discrimination in lending and other financial services. I wonder why they exist....

That busing was due to forced segregation. People should go to schools in their neighborhoods. It’s not racism to say that

The ship has sailed on structure at home in many communities, for the adults it's mostly too late. It's got to start with the school age kids and the only place I know of for many to taught structure and discipline is school.

I don't think "systemic" is the right word as in the system is designed to be racist or the system is inherently racist. Societal is probably a better descriptor in that woven through society the bias still exists and manifests across many parts of life. Things have been improving as the examples of 50 years ago vs now (let alone 150 years ago vs now) but society still has its biases.

On that premise, it is up to society rather than government to continue the march forward. There may be a place or two for legislative change but ultimately it changes as people change.

I'll also add that anyone who's been in a minority situation has probably faced some of the examples we see here - if you've ever been the only one of your kind in a situation you know the feeling. My point is that some of this is "human nature" and accordingly I doubt bias will ever be eliminated but we can strive towards a world where it is no worse for one group than another.

No, reducing it to emotional appeals from liberal poons and dry humping the bootstrap theory is as lazy as it gets.

Bootstrap theory works. I know it is simple, but it works. Offer someone some value, show them what you can do, they'll generally become a fan. No matter color, sex, etc.

These problems affect more than just the poor.
