i've been vegetarian for 7 years. tofu is an acquired taste, but like others have said, totally depends on the way its prepared. doesn't taste like anything by itself. a good crash course is to just hit up your favorite local thai spot and get a bahn mi or pad see ew with fried tofu. its the jam.
What the pho you talkin about?

Ok, cretins, I know that pho is not Thai food.

Just for the sake of discussion, what if all of a sudden after this vaccine, that 1 out of 50 kids had lung issues... would it be worth it?

For the sake of discussion, I'd need a lot more information. That's why I said a new vaccine is worth being extra careful about. Consult your medical professional, which is what I'll be doing one way or the other.

But in your hypothetical, you'd have to weigh the known risks of the new vaccine against the known risks of the virus. We should know a lot more about both whenever a vaccine is ready. Both should be well-studied by then. But vaccines are better when they get years to ferret out the side effects. Caution is prudent with rushed vaccines.

The considerations will be different among different populations. For example, a child with asthma or diabetes will have a different risk tolerance than a child with neither. It may be that doctors don't even recommend a vaccine to children at that point, but more to adults and anyone in high-risk categories. Again, time will tell.

I will be 44 next week. My goal is to retire somewhere around 61 to 62. I have a financial advisor and he has been telling me to be patient and leave it alone. I have done that. JacketVol’s comment about being worse than the recession spooked me a little.
I’ve managed money/investments for private bank clients for 10 years. Please listen to your advisor. Like the financial crisis, which involved fraud, this will be a long distant memory by the time you retire. If I’m wrong, retirement will be the very least of your worries And you better stock up on ammo and food.
Let this be a lesson in how to diversify assets/ income. Don’t just look at a pie chart and allocate small cap, large cap, international, etc. Start looking at how to diversify income sources for retirement and Non Correlated assets to the market. The economy is on hold. There will be pain but we will roar that engine back up soon enough.

Well that explains your political views

Jk :)

Most vegetarians I know still have dairy, have leather shoes and so on. The couple of extremists I've met are vegans.
Don't know how they do it, I live for meat. But don't mind how they choose to live or what they believe, just wish they would return that favor.

Guess it's the same for every topic really.

Yeah those vegans that I've come across are vile. I have a cousin who stopped being a vegan a few years back after becoming vitamin B deficient. The comments toward her on social media after that decision were quite ridiculous. Her entire page was littered with comments only a sexual predator would find satisfying on top of her life being threatened over and over. Wild stuff

So , if there is a vaccine with the next year or so. How many would be so willing, without second thought to give this to thier toddler/ newborn? Knowing if there is a complication now, or down the road. There will be nothing you can do about it, except be called a fool for blaming it.

Not an anti vaxxer, but just curious to what everyone thinks?

Would you risk it?
That's why we fund the FDA. They are supposed to assure us that there is no risk with drugs or vaccines. Of course, if you pay attention to the ads for class action lawyers (who I personally consider to be the lowest form of pond scum), it's not hard to come to the conclusion that the FDA never does anything right.

I don't eat meat, dairy, sweets, etc. Everything I eat is either fruit or vegetable. There are many documentaries on netflix, hulu, etc about plant based diets that are much more informative than what I can type on here. Everyone should take the time to watch 1 or more of them. Here are just a few;
1. Forks over Knives
2. What the Health
3. Game changers
There are many more, but these are the ones that got me started. I used to eat meat, dairy, etc everyday, the typical "SAD" (standard american diet) diet. But since my change, I will never go back. Things that used to appeal to me (smell of meat cooking, etc), now turn my stomach. It smells awful. Take time to watch these documentaries, it could change your life. It did mine.
Not only no...but HELL no.

Pretty much. I try to be understanding of their strong beliefs, as long as they aren't harming others or imposing upon them...rule #1.

I take them like I take religious zealots. I believe strongly in ethics, so I get why someone that believes that strongly in something may take it and try to spread the word and argue for their beliefs. As long as they leave it at mild proselytizing, then I'm fine. When it gets to the extremes is when it becomes a major turnoff and I think believers do harm to their cause.

Maybe they are utilitarians, but I don't see how violent actions (bombing an abortion clinic or a factory farm) will convince anyone of anything, other than you are misguided.
